Postgame Notes: Govs opener at Governors Stadium

Postgame notes following Austin Peay's 42-6 loss to Chattanooga in the debut of new Governors Stadium:

  • This was the first game in the newly renovated Governors Stadium.
  • Austin Peay is 37-38-1 all-time in home openers in program history.
  • With the 42-6 loss, Austin Peay is now 0-6 all-time versus the Mocs.
  • The loss extends the Austin Peay current losing streak to 14 games.
  • The contest is marks the first time since Sept. 21, 1968 that Chattanooga had played in Clarksville versus the Governors.
  • The Chattanooga contest is the first of two games that will be played by the Govs versus teams from the Southern Conference. Austin Peay will play at Mercer, Oct. 11.
  • The 45-yard touchdown pass to Javier Booker from Darrien Boone, with 7:37 left in the first quarter, were the first points scored by the Governors this season.
  • The Booker touchdown was the first touchdown scored by the Governors at the new Governors Stadium, coming with 7:37 left in the first quarter.
  • Javier Booker's touchdown reception was his second career touchdown. His first touchdown pass was a 33-yarder against Jacksonville State a year ago.
  • Freshman Darrien Boone's 45-yard pass to Booker was his first career touchdown pass. Boone, a transfer from Central Michigan, is playing for the first time since 2011. The Chicago native played his junior season at Fengler Academy before transferring to Hales Franciscan as a senior but was never granted eligibility. He redshirted at Central Michigan a year ago.
  • Boone's 109 first-quarter passing yards were more than the Govs had (30) against Memphis, Aug. 30.
  • The Govs were held to minus-7 yards rushing in the first quarter.
  • Chattanooga's Keon Williams scored the first points scored in the new Governors Stadium, on a 3-yard run with 11:57 left in the first quarter.
  • The 42 points scored by Chattanooga ties for the most given up by the Governors versus the Mocs, which was set last year, in a 42-10 loss in Chattanooga.
  • The 10 punts by Ben Campbell marks the fourth time in the last two seasons – and second consecutive game – he has recorded double-figure punt attempts in a contest.
