Post-Game Notes: Lady Govs vs. Belmont

  • The win by Austin Peay is the first over Belmont since the Bruins joined the Ohio Valley Conference.
  • The Lady Govs are now 3-1 in conference play, the best start to a season since 2010-11 where APSU went 12-6 in the OVC portion of the schedule.
  • Sophomore center Tearra Banks led all scorers with 16 points, while also grabbing nine rebounds in the contest.
  • Despite sitting out 11 minutes in the first half with four fouls, junior guard Tiasha Gray managed to keep her double-digit streak alive with 15 points.
  • Gray is now on a 15-game run of scoring 10+ points. The last Lady Gov accomplish this feat was Ashley Haynes in 2006.
  • Senior Kristen Stainback got the Lady Govs off to a hot start, scoring 11 of her 13 points in the first half.
  • Speaking of the first half…Austin Peay hit the 40 point mark before going to the locker room. It's the third time this season in which the Lady Govs have scored 40 or more points in the first half.
  • The APSU defense held the Bruins to 59 points on the evening, the second lowest point total allowed this season.
  • The Austin Peay defense forced the Bruins into a cold streak in the first half, with the visitors shooting 23% from the field.
