CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University men's tennis team continued its winning ways as it defeated Abilene Christian University, 6-1, in its home opener, Friday, at the Austin Peay Indoor Tennis Center.
In doubles action, Austin Peay (2-0) gained victories from the pairing of sophomore Aaron Jumonville and senior Aleksas Tverijonas at the No. 2 position and the duo of freshman Oleg Drobysh and junior Evan Borowski.
In singles play, the Govs were led by Tverijonas who cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Guilherme Gesser and senior Dimitar Ristovski who earned a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Jason Proctor. Senior Iago Seffrin, sophomore Manuel Montenegro and Jumonville also picked up singles victories on the afternoon.
The Govs return to action with a 4 p.m., Feb. 6, contest against Southern Illinois at the Austin Peay Indoor Tennis Center.
