CHARLESTON, Ill. – Despite a major challenge, Austin Peay State University men's tennis team remained undefeated in the Ohio Valley Conference as the Govs defeated Eastern Illinois 4-3, Friday, at Darling Courts.

With the win, Austin Peay improves to 7-4 overall, with a 2-0 mark in the OVC.  Eastern Illinois drops to 2-10, with a 1-1 OVC record.

In doubles play, Austin Peay was led by the duo of seniors Dimitar Ristovski and Iago Seffrin who cruised to an 8-2 victory at the No. 1 slot.  The Govs were able to clinch the doubles point when the pairing of freshman Oleg Drobysh and sophomore Manuel Montenegro earned an 8-5 victory at No. 3.

In singles action, the Govs were led by Montenegro, who completed an undefeated afternoon with a 6-2, 6-0 victory against David Constantinescu at the No. 5 position and senior Aleksas Tverijonas who picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win against Ryan Henderson at No. 2.  While the Panthers were able to pick up three wins in singles matches, the Govs clinched the match when Drobysh earned a hard-fought 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory over Grant Reiman at No. 6.

The Govs return to the court and continue Ohio Valley Conference play with a 10 a.m., Saturday, road contest against SIU Edwardsville at the SIUE Tennis Courts.
