Govs host Eagles and Colonels in OVC competition

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University men's tennis team continues Ohio Valley Conference competition when it hosts Morehead State for a 2 p.m., Friday contest before taking on Eastern Kentucky in a 10 a.m., Saturday match.

Austin Peay enters the weekend with an 8-4 record, and a 3-0 mark in OVC play.  Last weekend, the Govs earned hard-fought road victories over Eastern Illinois and SIUE.

Morehead State (4-10, 2-2 OVC) enters the match having defeated Belmont and Tennessee State last weekend. The Eagles are led by sophomore Ritchie Kruunenberg. Kruuenberg holds a 7-6 record at the No. 1 position this spring, and is joined by fellow sophomore Gabriel Ruiz at No. 1 doubles.

EKU (11-6, 4-0 OVC) enters the match fresh off of a Sunday victory against Radford. The Colonels are led by junior Alex Alvaro and freshman Ramon van Flymen, who occupy the top two singles positions.  Alvaro has earned a 6-8 record at the No. 1 singles position while van Flymen has recorded a 9-6 record in singles play this season.

After playing the Eagles and Colonels, the Govs will return home to face off with Belmont in a 2 p.m., April 2 contest at the Governors Tennis Courts.
