Post-Game Notes: APSU Baseball vs. Memphis

TEAM NOTES

Player of the Game: T.J. Marik (2-for-3, 2B, RBI, R)

Austin Peay (19-14) dropped a midweek contest to Memphis, 10-5, on Tuesday at Raymond C. Hand Park.

The Tigers never trailed in the contest, blasting a three-run home run in the opening frame to set the Govs back.

Overall, APSU used six pitchers, with starter Michael Costanzo taking the loss. Memphis recorded 11 hits over nine innings with three walks surrendered.

Three Govs – Cayce Bredlau, Logan Gray, and T.J. Marik – all had two hits in the game.

THE LINEUP

Patrick Massoni… Massoni went 1-for-5 out of the leadoff spot with a single in the eighth.

Cayce Bredlau… Bredlau homered in his first at-bat, his fourth of the year, then singled in the ninth.

Garrett Copeland… Copeland snapped a six-game hitting streak by going 0-for-4 with a walk.

Logan Gray… The sophomore singled in his first two plate appearances, ending at 2-for-4 with a run scored on the day.

Alex Robles… In his sixth career start at second base, Robles went 0-for-3 with a walk at the plate.

Josh Wilson… Wilson extended his reached base streak to 18 games with a double RBI double.

Wesley Purcell… Purcell doubled for his lone hit of the game, leading to a RBI and run scored.

Dre Gleason… Gleason went 0-for-2 before defensive changes were made.

T.J. Marik… Getting the start at catcher, Marik went 2-for-3 with a RBI double in the ninth.

Kyle Blackburn… Blackburn entered as a pinch-hitter and played right field, going 0-for-2 at the dish.

ON THE MOUND

Freshman Michael Costanzo received his first start in an APSU uniform, giving up four runs on six hits in 3 1/3 innings of work. He was handed the loss, falling to 0-1 on the year.

Zach Walton was the first Governor to enter out of the bullpen, pitching one inning with two runs coming across. Levi Primasing gave up a three-run homer in his one-third of an inning, with just one of the runs charged to his line.

Right-hander Jake Corum gave the Govs two innings of work, allowing two runs on two hits. Keirce Kimbel and Shane Lantigua combined to pitch the final 2 1/3 innings, with neither allowing an earned run.
