Dixon named adidas® OVC Offensive Player of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - Freshman forward McKenzie Dixon of Austin Peay State University women's soccer team was named adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, Tuesday.

Dixon, a native of Bentonville, Ark., recorded a hat trick in the Lady Govs 7-1 victory over Western Illinois, Friday, the first since Tatiana Ariza on Oct. 4, 2013.

Dixon is now tied with junior Gina Fabbro with a team-high three goals. In addition, she has attempted 10 shots, eight of which were on goal. With the exception of a road contest at South Alabama, Dixon has put a shot on goal in each match.

The freshman recorded the three goals, Friday, in three different varieties. After placing a shot past the keeper's right side in the 22nd minute, Austin Peay drew a penalty kick which Dixon calmly fired into the back of the net. To complete the hat trick, Dixon scored on a free kick from 20-25 yards out in the 78th minute.

The recognition is Austin Peay's first OVC women's soccer award since senior Nikki Filippone was named Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 14.
