CLARKSVILLE – Travis Janssen Baseball Camps will hold its first Fall Instructional League at Austin Peay State University, beginning Sunday, Oct. 11.
The league is open to individuals of all abilities who will graduate high school from 2016-19. The Austin Peay baseball coaching staff will conduct the league at a cost of $135, and all participants will receive a free Austin Peay baseball T-shirt.
"This is a great opportunity for a player to come and improve his game in a positive environment," said head coach Travis Janssen. "The emphasis of the league is based on instruction, team play and improvement. Winning and losing will not be emphasized. The fall games give each high school player a chance to showcase his skills in a game setting in front of the Austin Peay staff each week."
The league will begin 2 p.m., Oct. 11 and will run four successive Sundays through Nov. 1. The first day will be an evaluation process to determine the individual skill level of each player. After the first week, the fall campers will be divided into teams where competition and specialized instruction can take place.
Each game will be either six innings long or will conclude after two hours. In-game instruction will be constant throughout the contests and each team will have a minimum number of players on the roster to ensure ample playing time. Batting all the way through the order and free substitution will be utilized.
