Austin Peay hosts Hilltoppers in return to home court

CLARKSVILLE- Austin Peay State University women's tennis team will be competing at home against Western Kentucky, 3 p.m., Friday, at the Governors Tennis Center.

The Hilltoppers (4-3) last played against Belmont and came away with a 6-1 victory. Western Kentucky has also triumphed over local competitors Murray State, 6-1, Belmont, 6-1, and Lipscomb, 5-2. The Governors (1-3) fell to Lipscomb, Feb. 19, in a common match the two sides share.

In their most recent matches, the Govs have been outmatched in doubles play, falling behind early to unfortunately surrender the doubles point. However, after an extended break away from the court, Austin Peay is moving forward Friday with high hopes the dynamic duo of Claudia and Lidia Yanes Garcia will lead to a second victory.

In the previous two years, Austin Peay and Western Kentucky have split 1-1, with the Hilltoppers defeating APSU 6-1 last season in Clarksville.
