Austin Peay meets Racers in Tuesday dual

CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University women's tennis team hosts Murray State 2 p.m., Tuesday in the first of three-straight Ohio Valley Conference home contests.

Prior to a loss at UT Martin, the Govs (3-9, 2-4 OVC) earned a 6-1 victory over Southeast Missouri, Friday. In a complete team effort, APSU went 5-1 in singles play, with only one match needing three sets as freshman Helena Kuppig battled to win. The Govs also earned the doubles point, led by Kuppig and Lidia Yanes Garcia cruising to a 6-0 nod.

Lidia and twin sister Claudia Yanes Garcia have accounted for 18 of the team's 30 singles wins, nine coming in OVC play.

The Racers (8-8, 3-3 OVC) are coming off a 7-0 sweep over SEMO, a win which snapped a two-match losing skid. Amina Hadzic and Haily Morgan lead a balanced Racers squad, with each having earned 10 wins on the year.

Tuesday's match will be held at the Foy Fitness Center outdoor courts as both the women and men's tennis team compete on separate courts.
