Govs head to NCAA South Regionals for first time since 2013

CLARKSVILLE—Austin Peay State University women's cross country team wraps up their postseason competition at the NCAA South Regionals 9 a.m., Friday, at Harry Pritchett Running Park in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Head coach Doug Molnar is taking three runners from the women's squad to the regional event for the first time since 2013. Junior transfers Emmaculate Kiplagat and Caroline Kiplagat, as well as four-year letter winner Sarah-Emily Woodward, are all making the trip down to Alabama to race the six-kilometer course.

The Govs are coming off a strong Ohio Valley Conference Championship showing where Emmaculate Kiplagat led the Governors to their best finish since 2014. Kiplagat finished the five-kilometer course in a time of 18:28.9, followed by Caroline Kiplagat who cross the line in 19:03.2. Woodward finished the OVC Championship course in 21:25.5, and will be running in her first NCAA regional meet of her collegiate career.

The NCAA South Regionals are being hosted by the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa for the third time in the last five years. Spectator information and course maps can be found above.
