The Govs split the season-opening road trip, taking down Middle Tennessee in a double-overtime thriller last Sunday thanks to goals from freshman Claire Larose and junior McKenzie Dixon. Dixon and sophomore Renee Semaan each enter the weekend with a goal and an assist to pace the Governor early-season attack.

The Hilltoppers and Bisons met during the season's first weekend, with Western Kentucky taking down Lipscomb in a 2-0 affair in Nashville, Aug. 18. The Hilltoppers dropped their previous contest to Texas, 2-0, while the Bisons earned a 2-2 draw at No. 10 Auburn, Aug 20.

Last Time Against This Weekend's Opponents

The Govs dropped back-to-back matches against the Hilltoppers and Bisons last season, Sept. 2-4. The Governors forced overtime in the match against the Hilltoppers thanks to Semaan's 35-yard laser in the 88th minute, but Western Kentucky found the gamewinner less than a minute into the extra session.

Two days later, Lipscomb scored three times in the first 24 minutes, which offset Kirstin Robertson's penalty kick goal in the 25th minute. All-time, the Governors are 0-6-1 against Western Kentucky (0-1-1 at Morgan Brothers Field) and 8-5-1 against the Bisons (4-2-1 at home).

Keep An Eye On

  • Senior Lindsey Todd, in her final season between the posts, is poised to reach pretty rarified heights for an APSU keeper. She needs six saves to tie Nikki Filippone for fourth all-time, while her next clean sheet will give her sole possession of second all-time in shutouts.
  • Dixon's next goal will be her 11th, tying her for ninth all-time with Natalia Ariza, Joceline Quiceno and Shelby Olszewski.
  • Kirstin Robertson is tied with Andy Quiceno for fourth all-time with 15 goals; she needs one assist to pull into a tie for seventh with Morgan Zigelsky.

All-Time In Home Openers

The Govs are 10-5-0 all-time in regular-season home-openers, winning seven of their eight home openers since 2009.

Shots Fired

Early on in the 2017 campaign, Austin Peay is outshooting opponents 29-16, yet have the same amount of goals scored (4) and are currently being outshot, .138-.250. History says the Governors fortunes will turn, though; Austin Peay has not been outshot by its opponents for the season since 2014—the only time this decade the Governors have been outshot by their opponents for an entire season.

Early-Season Ironmen

In addition to Todd, who has not been relieved in net through the season's first two contests, Semaan and freshman Jade Dauriat have played every minute for the Governors.
