CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University men's tennis team opens its home schedule with an 1 p.m., Saturday contest against Chattanooga at the Governors Tennis Center.
The Govs (0-1) look to rebound after they dropped their opening match of the season against Middle Tennessee. Meanwhile, Chattanooga (1-2) also looks to get back in the win column after they lost to Alabama in their most recent match.
The match comes after Thursday's announcement of the Ohio Valley Conference's Preseason Rankings. Junior Almantas Ozelis looks to head the Govs lineup at #1 singles, after he was picked second in the OVC Top 10 Preseason Rankings. Freshman Christian Edison was also ranked, as he came in tenth position.
The Govs have won four of their last five matches against the Mocs, with all matches having the same 4-3 score line.
The only Governor to play against a Moc in the fall was freshman Jacob Lorino, who defeated Cooper Long (6-3, 6-3) in the second round of the Mercer Gridiron Classic in October.
Last spring, Ozelis defeated his likely opponent Saturday, Niklas Gerdes, 6-4, 7-5.
