Regular season comes to close with Govs' Illinois turn

CLARKSVILLE – A trip to the cold northern realm of the Ohio Valley Conference awaits Austin Peay State University's volleyball team as they close out the 2018 regular-season schedule, Friday-Saturday.

The Govs open their final weekend with a 6 p.m., Friday contest at SIUE. Austin Peay then will play the final match of the regular season when they face Eastern Illinois in a 6 p.m., Saturday contest in Charleston, Illinois.

  • Austin Peay's to clinch the title outright stands at two against Murray State. Austin Peay can clinch a share of the 2018 regular-season title with a win in either of its last two matches and win the title outright with two wins.
  • The Govs finished 2018 with a in regular-season play. They are the second APSU team to finish a regular-season home schedule unbeaten (1992, 13-0). In addition, they are one of 13 Division I teams with an active double-digit home win streak (13 games).
  • With its 23 wins in 2018, Austin Peay has recorded for the third time in program history. The Govs previous accomplished the feat in 1991-93 (70-33) and 2008-10 (70-28). Austin Peay is 77-21 since the start of the 2016 campaign.
  • Junior libero was named OVC Co-Defensive Player of the Week, Monday, after averaging 6.22 digs per set. She posted a career-high 30 digs in the five-set win at EKU and preceded that with a 26-dig effort at Murray State that was her career best in a four-set match.
  • Senior middle blocker also had an impressive performance in last week's action, leading the Govs with 10 blocks (1.11/set) while adding 25 kills (2.78/set). She had a match-best 14 kills at Murray State.
  • Senior setter became the fourth Govs setter to record 1,000 season assists three times during their career. It is just the latest accolade for the senior setter who passed 4,000 career assists and 1,000 career digs earlier this season.
  • Senior middle blocker has quietly pieced together a strong second half to the OVC schedule, with 44 kills (2.10/set) and 16 blocks (0.76/set) over the last six matches.
