CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University women's tennis team fell to Chattanooga, 6-1, Sunday, at the Governors Indoor Tennis Center.
The Govs (0-2) played without one of their top players in Claudia Yanes Garcia, due to injury. As a result, only two doubles matches were played. Lidia Yanes Garcia teamed with Fabienne Schmidt to defeat Samantha Caswell and Bogdana Zaporozhets at #1 singles (6-3), but the Mocs (3-0) ended up winning at #2 doubles and won #3 by forfeit.
Chattanooga then took four of five singles matches, and gained a point by forfeit at #6 singles.
Lidia Yanes Garcia did claim a victory at #1 singles though, defeating Samantha Caswell (6-1, 6-3).
The Govs return to action to take on Oral Roberts, Feb. 10, in Conway, Arkansas.
