CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University women's tennis team begins a four-game road swing this weekend, taking on Oral Roberts at 2 p.m., Saturday, and Central Arkansas at 9 a.m., Sunday in Conway, Arkansas.
The Govs (0-2) are looking to find their footing after losing junior standout Claudia Yanes Garcia last week due to injury. Her loss elevated freshman Fabienne Schmidt to No. 2 singles and the No. 1 doubles pairing with Lidia Yanes Garcia, Claudia's twin sister. The duo won their doubles match against Chattanooga in their last outing and Lidia also won at #1 singles.

Oral Roberts (3-4) has had mixed results to start the season. After winning their opening two matches, the Golden Eagles dropped four in a row before rebounding to defeat Grambling in their most recent outing. None of the current players on the Govs' roster have faced an Oral Roberts opponent before.
Central Arkansas (2-2) plays host to the three-match event this weekend. The Sugar Bears are opening their home schedule, after defeating fellow Ohio Valley Conference foe Southeast Missouri and Arkansas State on the road. While the Govs have never played Central Arkansas in a dual match, the two teams contested four matches this past fall (one doubles, three singles). The only Gov to win was Claudia Yanes Garcia in singles, who defeated Pompawee Pramethong in the semifinals of the APSU Invitational en route to her individual title, 7-6 (3), 7-5. However, the Govs lost three of four tiebreakers overall in the three singles matches, with Claudia claiming the lone tiebreak victory.
