Govs head to Morehead State for double dose of duals

CLARKSVILLE– Austin Peay State University beach volleyball team comes off a nine-day hiatus ready to face fellow Ohio Valley Conference opponent Morehead State in a day of duals on the road.

The Govs are coming off a dominant sweep at the Carson Newman Tournament, where the Governors downed Lincoln Memorial, Huntingdon College and the hosts, Carson Newman, in route to building a thee-match winning streak.

Austin Peay will take their streak on the road to Morehead, Kentucky to face off with the Eagles of Morehead State. The Governors are on a run, having not lost a single set in their last 10 pairings, sweeping Huntingdon College and Carson Newman in two sets March 23 and 24 respectively.

The pairings for Austin Peay will remain unchanged from the Gov's statement win over Carson Newman, where they didn't drop a set, including the exhibition sixth pairing against the Eagles.

Be sure to follow the Govs on Twitter at @AustinPeayBVB for updates throughout the weekend, and prep for the next matchups by checking out the Governors' Forecast.

Preview the Pairings

  • Gerig and Gable. Ginny Gerig and Cecily Gable look to continue their success at the number one pairing, winning four-straight sets at the Carson Newman Tournament.
  • Waite and Moore. This all-freshman pairing dropped a nailbiter against Lincoln Memorial in the opening match of the Carson Newman Tournament, but didn't show any signs of youth the rest of the weekend, sweeping opponents in dramatic fashion.
  • Turner and Panning. This freshman-sophomore duo made quite a splash at the Carson Newman Tournament, winning all six sets they played together.
  • Slay and Theiss. Are on a three-game winning streak at the number four pairing, and twice allowed opponents single digit points on their way to three-straight points for Austin Peay at the Carson Newman Tournament.
  • Taff and Stitt. After a dominant weekend at Carson Newman, Kaylee Taff and Chloe Stitt have shown no kinks in their armor and look to continue their winning streak.
  • Korfhage and Darland. Nina Korfhage and Claire Darland look to build on their matches together early this season at the sixth pairing against fellow OVC foe Morehead State.
