CLARKSVILLE – Lidia Yanes Garcia, of Austin Peay State University women's tennis team, is set to play in the Oracle Intercollegiate Tennis Association Masters, starting Thursday, in Malibu, California.

The prestigious tournament only has 32 players for each the men and the women. There is also a mixed double portion of the tournament. One men's and women's player from each conference are selected to attend the tournament, along with eight more players on each side via at-large or Oracle Wild Card bids. Yanes Garcia, off the back of her third straight Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year award, was selected to represent the OVC.

Yanes Garcia has competed in the tournament the previous two years. In 2016, Yanes Garcia took on the No. 8 seed in Jasmine Lee from Mississippi State. After dropping the first set, Yanes Garcia led 5-2 in the second, but unfortunately suffered from cramps and could not close out the set.

Last year, Yanes Garcia also competed, but found herself on the wrong side again, dropping matches to Florida International's Andrea Lazaro and Abilene Christian's Lucile Porter.

Yanes Garcia starts off her tournament with a mixed doubles match. Paired with Belmont's Hendrik Inno, the duo will play at 8 a.m. against Michaela Bayerlova (Washington State) and Sven Lah (Baylor).

After the match, Yanes Garcia will have a quick turnaround and play Michigan's Giulia Pairone at approximately 9:15 a.m. to start her singles tourney, although the times are yet to be released for the singles portion of the event.
