CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University men's tennis team fell behind early against Lipscomb and could not muster a comeback, Friday, at the Governors Tennis Center.

The Governors (0-3) started with promise, with the doubles pairings of Timo Kiesslich and Jacob Lorino at No. 2 doubles and Chad Woodham and Hunter Sanders at No. 3 doubles taking early leads. However, the Bisons (1-1) won at No. 1 doubles and then seized control at No. 2 doubles, taking the doubles point. Woodham and Sanders were down 5-4 before the match moved onto singles.

Kiesslich was the lone Governor to win the first set of any of the singles matches, as the Bisons moved to the brink of clinching the match. The Bisons ended up taking wins at No. 1, No. 3, and No. 4 singles to clinch the match. Kiesslich battled into a supertiebreaker in the third set, but could not close it out.

The Govs are back in action next Friday at Chattanooga.
