Govs add Bolton for 2021-22 campaign

CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University head men's tennis coach Ross Brown is excited to welcome Tom Bolton of Wellington, New Zealand, to Clarksville for the 2021-22 academic year.

Bolton prepped at Scots College where he was nationally ranked as the No. 2 U14 player in New Zealand in  2017. In December of 2020, Bolton was once again nationally ranked in the top-10 of the U18 junior rankings.

In 2020 Bolton was also a National Doubles semifinalist in New Zealand and was an International Tennis Federation J5 Doubles Finalist. Twice Bolton was a J5 ITF Doubles quarterfinalist and he climbed as high as No. 1600 in the ITF junior rankings.

"Tom is an experienced junior player that has very solid fundamentals and moves well on court," said Brown. "He is eager to improve and contribute to our men's program and I'm very confident of his work ethic and his coachability. Academically Tom is strong adding to the high academic strength of our men's team. I'm truly excited to have Tom as a Gov , he comes across as young man that's on a mission to excel on and off the court."

Bolton is the son of Robert Bolton and Arlene Smyth; he has two siblings, Alice and Kate. Bolton also played rugby during his days at Scots College.
