BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the second time this season, Austin Peay State University beach volleyball players Marlayna Bullington and Kelsey Mead have been named the Ohio Valley Conference Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Bullington and Mead put together another perfect week, going 4-0 at the EKU Beach Tournament to help Austin Peay pick up three wins as a team. The duo dropped just one set during their four matches in Richmond, Kentucky, and held their opponents to an average of 16.1 points per set.
Through 15 matches this season, Bullington and Mead are tied for the team lead with a 10-5 record, they are also on a team-best five-match winning streak and are 9-1 in their last ten matches. Bullington, a native of Portland, Tennessee, and Mead, a native of Tallahassee, Florida, have played exclusively in the No. 1 position for the Governors this season.
This is the third time this season that an Austin Peay tandem has been named the pair of the week, Bullington and Mead were also the pair of the week on March 15, and Brooke Moore and Mikayla Powell claimed the award on March 29.
Bullington and Mead are the Co-OVC Pair of the Week, sharing the weekly honors with UT Martin's Dylan Mott and Karen Scanlon, who went 4-0 in the No. 1 position for the Skyhawks last week.
