Govs kick off season-ending, two-game road trip at Stetson, Wednesday

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Looking to end the season on a high note, the Austin Peay State University men's basketball team will look to put together back-to-back wins when it takes on Stetson at 6 p.m., Wednesday, in ASUN Conference action at the J. Ollie Edmunds Center in DeLand, Florida.

Austin Peay enters the season-ending, two-game road trip in the Sunshine State after beating North Florida, 73-71, to end an 11-game slide. The Governors are just 2-12 away from the Winfield Dunn Center this season and will square off against a Stetson team that is 8-1 at home this season.

The Hatters enter the week in fourth place in the ASUN with a record of 11-5 and a spot in the conference tournament already secured. Stetson won both of its games last week, beating Florida Gulf Cost twice to improve to 16-11 overall on the season.

Wednesday's game against Stetson will be streamed on ESPN+. Fans also can tune into the Governors Sports Network on ESPN Clarksville (104.1 FM/540 AM) to hear Brian Rives and Ethan Schmidt call all the action.

Scouting the Hatters

  • KenPom.com rates North Florida as the 158th-best team in the NCAA and the third-best team in the ASUN Conference with a +0.75 adjusted efficiency margin.
  • Per KenPom, the Hatters lead the ASUN and rank 42nd in the NCAA in offense, scoring 113.0 points per 100 possessions, despite ranking ninth in the ASUN and 309th in the NCAA with an adjusted tempo rating of 65.0 possessions per 40 minutes.
  • Stetson is 12th in the ASUN and 325th in the NCAA in defense, per KenPom, allowing 112.3 points per 100 possessions.
  • Stetson ranks second in the AUSN in scoring offense (76.3 ppg).
  • The Hatters rank seventh in the NCAA and lead the ASUN in three-point percentage (.393), they also rank ninth in the country and second in the conference in three-pointers per game (10.2).

Series History and Lasting Meeting

Austin Peay won the only previous meeting in series history in 1976.

The Governors beat Stetson, 68-66, on Dec. 20, 1976, at the J. Ollie Edmunds Center in DeLand, Florida.
