CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University women's tennis team earned a 7-0 victory against Doane in its nonconference finale, Tuesday, at the Governors Tennis Courts.
The Governors did not drop a set and allowed only five combined games in its third sweep of the season.
Austin Peay picked up 6-0 wins in all three of their doubles matches, with the No. 3 pairing of Ayden Kujawa and Yu-Hua Cheng clinching the match's first point in their first time teaming together this season.
Jana Leder and Melody Hefti improved to 9-3 on the season with their win from the No. 1 position, while Denise Torrealba and Sophia Baranov improved to 6-0 on the season with their second-straight sweep.
Hefti was one of three Govs to earn a double bagel against Doane, as the St. Gallen, Switzerland native cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win against DU's Liz van der Torre. Torrealba and Cheng also swept both of her sets from the No. 1 and No. 4 positions, respectively, to clinch the win for APSU without surrendering a single game across either singles or doubles.
With the result already decided, Baranov earned a 6-0, 6-2 win against the Tigers' Ashlyn Kucera, while Fontana and Kujawa's victories from the No. 5 and No. 6 positions solidified the sweep.
With the nonconference slate now behind it, Austin Peay prepares for their inaugural ASUN Conference match in a 9 a.m. (CT), March 17 contest against Queens at the Howard Leving Tennis Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
