CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – With the penultimate week of the regular season beginning this week, the Austin Peay athletics department, Five Star Radio Group and the Hand Family Companies present the weekly Austin Peay Coaches Show featuring head baseball coach Roland Fanning at 6 p.m., Monday, at Buffalo Wild Wings on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.
Pitcher Jacob Weaver, infielder Matt Aribal and Coach Fanning join host Jeff Matthews to recap the weekend's series at Central Arkansas and preview the Governors' upcoming week of the regular season, beginning with a trip to Knoxville.
Each of the three games between APSU and UCA were decided by two-or-fewer runs, with the Govs capturing a 7-6 run in the series finale.
Despite home runs by John Bay and Jaden Brown in the opener in Conway, Arkansas, the Govs dropped a 4-2 decision against the Bears. APSU then fell in a marathon, 16-15 outing in game two of the series despite a 17-hit performance in which the team tallied four runs in the first and eighth innings.
Weaver picked up his second win of the season in the finale, with Aribal and Gore each tallying their first home runs of the season in the win.
The Govs hit the road and face No. 23 Tennessee in a 5:30 p.m. (CT), Tuesday contest to begin their penultimate week of the regular season.
After its midweek against the Volunteers, APSU returns to Clarksville for its final home series of the regular season when it welcomes Lipscomb for a three-game ASUN Conference series beginnings at 6 p.m., Friday, at Raymond C. Hand Park. Saturday's 1 p.m. contest against the Bisons also is Senior Day, with presentations beginning 15 minutes prior to first pitch.
