CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University's soccer team opens its 2025 season with an exhibition match against the University of Kentucky at 2 p.m. (CT), Sunday, at Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex.
Lotta New Govs
The Governors welcome 12 newcomers, which is four more than last season. The Govs have also turned over half their roster, as they return 13 at the expense of losing the same number. Of the 13 returners, two key roster members stick out – Ellie Dreas and Kiley Reese.
Still Here
Dreas – a United Soccer Coaches Women's All-South Region Third Team member, and a Second Team All-ASUN selection last season – returns as one of five seniors on the roster. She led the Govs in 2024 with six goals, picking up a pair of assists.
Reese, who was selected to the ASUN All-Freshman Team last year, appeared in all 19 matches for the Govs. She earned 16 starts after coming off the bench in her first three games as a Gov. Reese tallied a pair of goals and assists in '24, while also going 2-for-2 in penalty kick attempts – becoming the first Govs since 2018, and just the fifth in program history, to have multiple penalty kick goals in a single season in program history.
Non-Conference Notes
The 2025 non-conference schedule includes two new opponents, Vanderbilt and Northern Kentucky, and three, including Kentucky, when considering non-official matches. The Wildcats will be the first SEC opponent the Govs have faced since Mississippi State in 2018.
