CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – With both basketball teams set to tip off the second half of their 2025-26 seasons and the third week of Atlantic Sun Conference play, the Austin Peay Athletics Department and Five Star Radio Group present the weekly Austin Peay Basketball Coaches Show with head men's basketball coach Corey Gipson and head women's basketball coach Brittany Young at 6 p.m., Monday, from the Five Star Radio Group stations.
Gipson and Young join host Kyle King to recap the second week of ASUN Conference play and look ahead to a split week, which will see both teams at home and on the road.
Men's basketball freshman Zyree Collins and women's basketball sophomore Anovia Sheals also will join this week's coaches show.
Gipson, Collins, and the men's basketball team remained perfect in league play with their fourth-straight conference win and sixth-straight overall victory following a 2-0 week in the Sunshine State. The Govs opened the week with an 82-71 win against Florida Gulf Coast – its first-ever win in Alico Arena – before then tallying the program's first win in DeLand Florida since 1975 following an 81-69 victory against Stetson.
Collins continued his stellar freshman campaign, averaging 21.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, ad 3.5 steals per game over the week. The St. Louis, Missouri native is the ASUN's freshman leader in scoring, with his 35 steals pacing the conference altogether.
Following its trip to Florida, the Govs return home for a 7 p.m., Thursday contest against Eastern Kentucky on Gary Mathews Court at F&M Bank Arena. The game against the Colonels is a White Out and "Heroes Night." Following Thursday's game, the Govs travel to the Music City for a 6 p.m., Saturday contest at Lipscomb.
Young and the women's basketball team dropped a pair of narrow decisions to FGCU and Stetson at home over the week but still sit at 10-4 overall this season.
Sheals paced APSU with 17.5 points per game over the week, while also adding 5.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per contest. The Daytona Beach, Florida native recorded her second 20-point performance of the season with 21 points against FGCU Thursday afternoon, before tallying 14 against Stetson on Saturday.
The Govs hit the road for a single, Thursday evening game against Bellarmine. Tipoff against the Knights is set for 5:30 pm. (CT) from Knights Hall in Louisville, Kentucky. Following the game, the Govs return home for a 2 p.m., Saturday game against Lipscomb at F&M Bank Arena.
