CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Following a split week for both teams on the hardwood, the Austin Peay Athletics Department and Five Star Radio Group present the weekly Austin Peay Basketball Coaches Show with head men's basketball coach Corey Gipson and head women's basketball coach Brittany Young at 6 p.m., Tuesday, at Skyline 500 on the top floor of Shelby's Trio in downtown Clarksville.
Gipson and Young join host Kyle King to recap last week's ASUN Conference action and look ahead to the fourth week of league play.
Men's basketball junior forward Rashaud Marshall and women's basketball graduate guard JaNiah Newell Sheals also will join this week's coaches show.
Gipson, Marshall, and the men's basketball team split a pair of games this week. The Govs opened last week's action with a 74-72 victory against rival Eastern Kentucky, Thursday, after an 18-point, five-rebound, six-steal performance by freshman Zyree Collins. Marshall also tallied 12 points and nine rebounds in the two-point victory. The Blytheville, Arkansas native then had his second-highest scoring performance of the season in a 23-point, six-rebound effort during an 82-78 loss at Lipscomb, Saturday, which ended the Govs' ASUN-best seven-game winning streak.
The Govs are back in action at home this week, where they face Florida Gulf Coast for "Throwback Thursday" at 7 p.m., Thursday, from F&M Bank Arena. APSU then hosts Stetson for a 4 p.m., Saturday game.
Young and the women's basketball team also earned a split of ASUN games this week beginning with a 67-39 win at Bellarmine to remain undefeated on the road this season. The Govs then fell in a narrow, 51-45 decision to Lipscomb in Clarksville.
The APSU women's basketball team hits the road for a pair of games in the Sunshine State, beginning with a 6 p.m. (CT), Thursday game at Florida Gulf Coast, before traveling to DeLand for a 1 p.m. tipoff against the Hatters.
