CLINTON, S.C. — Austin Peay State University's women's tennis team defeated Presbyterian, 5-2 in their spring opening matches, Sunday.
Yi-Ching Huang defeated Luciana Parrilli, 6-1 in straight sets in her first match as a Governor. Clemence Butavand defeated Grace Katzman in three sets. Pauline Bruns took the win against Sofia Rodrigo Hidalgo, in straight sets. Elena Thiel won her match against Mary Ellen Longmire, (6-2, 6-4). Sophia Baranov and Luca Bohlen were both defeated by their opponents in singles competition.
In doubles matches, Thiel and Bruns defeated Katzman and Rodrigo Hidalgo, 6-1. Baranov and Butavand defeated Parrilli and Longmire, 6-3. Huang and Bohlen left their match unfinished.
The Governors continue competition against opponent Furman 10 a.m., Monday.
