JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For the second-straight week, Austin Peay State University graduate forward Collin Parker swept the Atlantic Sun Conference men's basketball weekly awards after averaging over 30 points per game and leading the Governors to a 2-0 week in league play.
Parker averaged 30.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.0 block per game in wins at Queens and against Bellarmine. He shot 51.4% from the floor (19-of-37), 62.5% from three-point range (5-for-8) and 81.6% from the charity stripe (18-of-22).
Parker began his week with the highest-scoring game by a Governor in seven seasons with 39 points in addition to nine rebounds while shooting 47.8% from the floor and 82.4% from the charity stripe. His 39-point outing is the best by a Gov since Terry Taylor dropped 42 points at Morehead State, Feb. 16, 2019. It also is the most of any player in ASUN Conference play this season. His game was his third 30-point game in two weeks, and fourth overall this season.
Parker followed his performance with a 22-point, seven-rebound, four-assist outing against Bellarmine, Saturday, in which he shot 57.1% from the floor, 66.7% from three-point range, and 80% from the free throw line. With his 22 points, Parker became the first Governor in APSU's digital record-keeping era to score 20-plus points in six-straight games.
A Montgomery City, Missouri native, Parker was tabbed the Lou Henson award National Player of the Week, Monday, which is awarded weekly to the top mid-major player in Division I.
Parker now leads the ASUN Conference in weekly awards with six player of the week honors and four newcomer of the week selections, breaking a tie with teammate Zyree Collins (four). Austin Peay also is the only team in conference to have two student-athletes be named ASUN Player of the Week multiple times.
Parker and the Governors return to the court later this week in the Sunshine State, beginning with a 6 p.m. (CT), Thursday game at North Florida before taking on Jacksonville at 6 p.m., Saturday, in Jacksonville, Florida.
