EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Austin Peay State University's volleyball team defeated Southern Indiana in a 3-2 (13-25, 25-16, 26-24, 24-26, 15-10) exhibition match, in Liberty Arena.

Southern Indiana came out strong in the first set of the match, taking the set 25-13. The Governors were quick to flip the script, though, as they dominated in the second set, taking it 25-16.

The Governors took set three 26-24 after gaining the advantage late in the set. Southern Indiana did the same in the fourth set, also winning 26-24. But not before the Governors went on a scoring run to take the fifth set 15-10.

The Governors' totaled a .201 hitting efficiency on 47 kills and 149 attacks with a .289 transitional swing efficiency with a 40% kill rate. The defense contributed 83 digs with Senior Reagan Anderson contributing 32 to the Governor's total.

Freshman Malana Benz contributed eight kills on 17 attacks. Sophomore Nicole Okojie recorded seven kills without an attack error on 26 total attacks. Lauren Wallace added defensive and reception contributions with six kills on 25 swings.

Five players recorded one ace a piece. The Govs saw 149 total attacks, with 66 on the first ball, and 83 on the transition. Freshman Kaelynn Ashley led the team in attack efficiency with .333 on 18 attacks, followed by Freshman Cree Hollier with .278 on 18 attacks.

Up next, the Governors host their first home tournament the "Stacheville Challenge" for the ninth consecutive year. The Tournament will feature UT Martin at 1 p.m. and Jackson State at 7 p.m. on Friday Aug. 28, and Kansas City at 1 p.m. on Saturday Aug. 29.
