CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Austin Peay State University's soccer team was shut out by Chattanooga by a final score of 3-0 in Sunday's match at Finley Stadium.
By the Half
The match began with an early Mocs goal from reigning Southern Conference Rookie of the Year, Quinn Johnson, when she scored her third goal of the season in the 6th minute. The goal was assisted by Carmya Mastrangelo and Paige Thomas. UTC continued to press forward, with multiple shots by Thomas, who proved to be a persistent threat early in the first half. Chattanooga's EG Dillard extended the lead for the Mocs, with her season's first goal in the 26th minute, which was assisted by Landry Olson.
Chattanooga secured a decisive victory over the Govs, with Thomas scoring in the 61st minute to extend the Mocs' lead to 3-0. The Governors' goalkeeper, Megan Waskiewicz, made several important saves, totaling four during the match. Sophomore midfielder Kylie Brandes took the Governors' only shot in the match, as she led the offensive efforts for Austin Peay in her 72 minutes played.
Redshirt sophomore Mason Riley made her first appearance in the net this season, playing the final 23 minutes of the match. She recorded a pair of saves and did not allow a goal in that stint.
