As a junior in 2012 – Harper started all 64 games and has started every game of his career -
a streak of 175 consecutive games played... named to Capital One Academic
All-America third team after earning first-team Capital One Academic All-District
3 honors as selected by the College Sports Information Directors Association
(CoSIDA)... was one of 50 players named to Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year
Award Watch List... became 14th Govs hitter to reach 200-hit plateau in OVC
Tournament finale against Eastern Illinois, May 27, and only the second to do
so in their first three seasons (Chuck Abbott, 1994-96)... finished season
batting .327 with 17 doubles and 36 RBI... led Govs with .378 batting average in league play while
also posting nine doubles and 23 RBI... named to OVC All-Tournament team after
batting .300 with six hits and four walks and not committing an error in 34
chances... batted .267 with a double in NCAA Tournament's Eugene Regional... ... opened 2012 with 4-for-5 outing
against Illinois State, Feb. 17, with double and three runs scored...belted
walk-off solo home run in second game of doubleheader against Illinois State,
Feb. 18, finishing game 3-for-4 with two RBI... was 2-for-3 in Illinois State
series finale, Feb. 19... opened season with nine hits in four-game series
against Illinois State and was named the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Player
of the Week... did not record a hit (12 ABs) in Georgia State series, Feb. 24-26...
was 2-for-5 with a season-best three RBI against Youngstown State, March 2... nabbed
two stolen bases and was 1-for-4 at Alabama A&M, March 6... was 2-for-3
against Northern Illinois, March 9... went 19 consecutive at-bats, March 11-17,
without a hit, including an 0-for-6 outing to start Ohio State series, before a
2-for-5 effort in series' second game, March 17... had 2-for-6 outing at
Lipscomb, March 20... was 1-for-4 with RBI against Western Kentucky, March 21... had
four hits in Southeast Missouri series, going 2-for-5 in opener and 2-for-6 -
including a game-tying solo home run - in finale... was 3-for-6 with two doubles
and a RBI against Alabama A&M, March 27... had four hits in UT Martin series,
including a triple in Game 2 and a double in Game 3 that sparked game-winning
bursts by Govs... posted season's third 3-hit outing against Belmont, April 3... tied
career-high with four hits in Game 1 of EIU series, finishing day 4-for-8 with
a double and RBI single... was 2-for-4 in Game 2 of Eastern Illinois series, his
fifth multi-hit outing in his last seven games... held hitless (5 ABs) against
Middle Tennessee, April 11, ending eight-game hit streak... after recording one
hit in series opener against Murray State, had two hits and two runs scored in
final two games... had six hits in Eastern Kentucky series, including 3-for-5,
four RBI outing in opener that included a solo home run and two-run double... was
3-for-4 with RBI at Tennessee, April 24... opened Jacksonville State series with
2-for-3 performance that included game-winning RBI double, but was held without
a hit in series final two games... had a hit in 22 of 24 games from March
17-April 27 - including an 8-game hit streak (March 25-April 7) and a 9-game
hit streak (April 13-April 27) - and batted .402 with 17 RBI during that
stretch... had a 13-game hit streak in OVC play, March 25-April 27... had two hits
in each game of SIU Edwardsville series, May 4-6, tying for team lead with six

As a sophomore in 2011 – Harper was Govs lone representative on NCAA Tournament’s Atlanta All-Region Team… named first-team All-OVC at shortstop… had a 29-game hit streak from April 2 to May 20 (ended on regular season’s final day), the third longest streak in APSU history… batted .329 with 17 doubles, four home runs, 43 RBI and 11 stolen bases… batted .393 in OVC action, including a 21-game hit streak in OVC play only, with 27 RBI… batted .389 in April and May with 34 RBI… hit season’s first home run in Game 2 of Valparaiso series, Feb. 19… was 1-for-8 in Murray State doubleheader, lone hit was a leadoff double in the second game that led to the Govs second run… was held without a hit but had two walks against Middle Tennessee, March 30… got hit streak underway with two hits in each game of the Eastern Illinois doubleheader, April 2, and finished series 5-for-10 with a double and triple… was 2-for-3 with RBI at Middle Tennessee, April 6… had an RBI single against Evansville, April 5… had at least one hit in each game of Eastern Kentucky series, finishing weekend 5-for-11, including two hits in opener and finale… was 2-for-4 with a two-run single against Western Kentucky, April 12… was 2-for-3 with two walks and a RBI against Lipscomb, April 17… had one hit in each game of Jacksonville State series… became first Govs hitter to record six RBI in a game since the 2007 season (Trey Lucas at Middle Tennessee) with 3-for-6, six RBI effort in May 1 finale at Morehead State that included a three-run home run and two-run double… had two hits in each game of Tennessee Tech series, including game-winning RBI double in Game 2 and finished series with six RBI… led Govs with nine hits (.563) at Morehead State… was 2-for-3 with two RBI in Game 1 of Southeast Missouri, May 14, and was intentionally walked and scored game-winning run in ninth inning… had an RBI double at Lipscomb, May 17, batting in the No.3 slot for first time this season… was 2-for-6 with 6 RBI in Saturday’s doubleheader at UT Martin, including game-winning three-run home run in Game 1… after being held hitless in regular-season finale, he also was held without a hit in Govs OVC tourney opener against Tennessee Tech, May 26, the only time this season he was held without a hit in back-to-back games… had one hit in each game against Jacksonville State in tournament… was one of only two APSU players (Greg Bachman the other) to record a hit in each game of NCAA Tournament’s Atlanta Regional, finished tournament with .273 (3-of-11) batting average.
As a freshman in 2010 – Started all 53 games for the Govs… began season at third base, but spent last 40 games at shortstop… finished the season hitting .246 with two home runs and 27 RBI… led all freshmen in runs scored with 32… started freshman campaign slowly, going 4-for-30 (.133) in seasons first seven games… settled in with a hit in seven of next eight games, three of those multi-hit performances… recorded his first career multi-hit performance with 2-for-3 effort against Milwaukee, March 5… recorded first career multi-RBI game with a two-RBI effort against Dayton, March 6… started OVC play strong with back-to-back two-hit games and first career home run against Murray State, March 27… had a career-high four-hit game at Middle Tennessee, April 7, going 4-for-6 with two RBI and his season’s second home run… was 2-for-4 with two RBI in the second game of the double-header at Evansville, May 11… concluded season with a hit in eight of final nine games (8-of-29, .276) including a season-ending five-game hitting streak.

Played under head coach Paul Mittura, batted .350 as a senior with .451 on-base percentage that included 18 walks against 10 strikeouts in 103 at-bats… was a first-team All-Area selection by the Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle… batted .411 as a junior with 20 RBI and 11 doubles for the Wildcats… named first-team all-district and was selected to The Leaf Chronicle’s All-Area squad… during the summer following his junior season, Harper played for the Clarksville Orioles and compiled a .390 batting average with seven home runs, 24 doubles and 55 RBI… a two-sport athlete, he also was an all-district and all-area selection in basketball.
Personal
Reed Carney Harper is the son of Ralph and Karen Harper… born Dec. 21… has an older brother, Ryne, who was a pitcher for the Govs from 2008-11… father Ralph played second base at Austin Peay from 1978-81… a chemistry major.
