Career Recap: Austin Peay
As a junior in 2013 – Missed season’s first 30 games after suffering hand injury during preseason… Returned to appear in 19 games and start in 10 contests but could not regain form… Finished season batting .191 in just 47 at-bats… Season’s first hit was his first career triple against Evansville, April 24, the 2-for-3 outing his lone multi-hit affair of year… Had a hit in each game of the SIU Edwardsville series, May 16-18… Those three hits were part of a four-game hit streak… Appeared twice as a substitute during NCAA Regional.

As a sophomore in 2012 – Wollenzin appeared in 50 games, including 39 games started… Finished campaign with .209 batting average, three home runs and 17 RBI… Split time between first base and catcher in season’s first half, making 10 starts at first base… Batted .226 in OVC play with eight RBI… Belted a three-run home run and had three walks at Alabama A&M, March 6… Officially 0-for-1 at Lipscomb, March 20, but walked twice, hit by a pitch, laid down a successful sacrifice bunt and stole a base… Did not have a hit against Alabama A&M, March 27, but scored three times as he walked once and was hit by a pitch 3 times… Was 3-for-4 with three RBI at Eastern Kentucky, April 24…  Started as designated hitter against Lipscomb, May 8, and pushed across go-ahead run with ground out in second… Started three games in OVC Tournament and although batted .167 with one hit, walked four times to finish tourney with .500 on-base percentage… Lone tourney hit came was fourth-inning single in championship-clinching game against Eastern Illinois, May 27…  Made three appearances in NCAA Eugene Regional, starting in both Oregon contests and as a substitute against Indiana State.

As a freshman in 2011 – Wollenzin started 32 games (27 at C and 5 at DH)… moved into No.1 catching role against Eastern Kentucky, April 9… Batted .343 with two home runs and 20 RBI… Named to OVC All-Freshman team… Was second on team in OVC play with .412 batting average and had 14 RBI… Led Govs in April and May, batting .403 with 17 RBI… Hit first collegiate home run – a lead-off shot in the second inning – against Lipscomb, April 19… Had a hit in each game of Morehead State series – going 3-for-4, 1-for-3 and 2-for-4, April 30-May 1… Was 2-for-5 with five RBI in Tennessee Tech series, May 7-8, with two-run single in Game 1 and three-run home run in Game 2… Provided game-winning run in Game 1 of Southeast Missouri series with walk-off walk and also had an RBI-single in sixth inning as Govs rallied to tie game… Was 1-for-2 with two walks in OVC Tourney opener against Tennessee Tech, May 26… Started as designated hitter in championship contest against Jacksonville State, May 28, and was 1-for-3… Started all three games of NCAA Atlanta Regional, two at catcher and one as designated hitter… did not record a hit in tournament, but had a sacrifice fly for Govs first run in victory at Georgia Tech, June 3.

Career Recap: Green Mountain HS
Under head coach Brad Madden played catcher… Hit .484 with 10 home runs and 30 RBI… Was a first-team all-state and all-conference selection… as a junior, batted .559 with 10 home runs and 46 RBI… Named Jefferson County League “Most Valuable Player” and was all-conference selection… Selected to All-Colorado Class 5A 1st team All-Conference squad… Hit walk-off grand slam in 14th inning of district championship game to advance Green Mountain to state tournament, also had a two-run home run in seventh inning of same game… Was selected and played in 2009 Area Code Games.

Personal
Matthew Blair Wollenzin is the son of Don and Lisa Wollenzin… Born Sept. 5… Has a sister, Lauren… Father Don played football at Central Michigan (1977-79)… Majoring in health and human performance with an emphasis in health care management.
