Was a catcher for head coach Ken Campbell... starting catcher helped lead the Senators to two TCCAA championships in two seasons at the school... as a sophomore, ranked fourth among TCCAA hitters with nine home runs... finished campaign with .318 batting average, including 16 doubles and 35 RBI... was first-team All-TCCAA selection... as a freshman, batted .293 with three home runs, 26 runs scored and 15 RBI.

Played high school ball for Ryan Miller at Hardin County... was an All-State honoree after hitting .466 with 12 home runs as a junior... also was a second-team All-Region 7 selection, a first-team AAA All-State pick by the Tennessee Baseball Report and was tapped to play in the TBCA Worth Showcase after junior campaign... was selected to TBCA Super Sophomore squad in 2008 after batting .375 with three home runs and 20 RBI.
