2008-09 (Sophomore)
Started all 32 games, scoring in double digits 19 different occasions, including all three OVC tourney games to earn OVC All-Tournament honors… scored 20 or more points on seven different occasions… got off to slow start, scoring just five points in the season opener against Lipscomb… was APSU’s leading scorer in next three conetsts, reaching double figures in each, including 16 against Belmont… drove length of floor to score game-winning bucket in closing seconds against Belmont… scored just 10 total points in Miami tourney but did grab nine rebounds versus Hurricanes… opened OVC play by scoring 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting (4-of-7 three pointers), and grabbing eight rebounds in road win against Southeast Missouri… also had two blocks and three steals in game… came right back with career performance against Eastern Illinois… although Lady Govs rally fell short, Herring scored 22 of her career-best 33 points in the second half, making 10-of-16 from the floor plus 11-of-14 from the free-throw line… as a result of her OVC opening-weekend performance, was named OVC Player of the Week… struggled thereafter with just one double-figure scoring performance in next six games… then reeled off three straight double-figure performances… scored 21 points at home against Eastern Kentucky, Jan. 5, with four of her five field goals coming from three-point range… she went 6-of-11 from floor in scoring 16 points in road win at UT Martin… scored 15 points, going 5-of-8 from the floor, in road loss at Murray State, Jan. 10… after struggling against Tennessee State, scored 18 points in home win versus Tennessee Tech, hitting game-winning free throw in second overtime… then tallied 12 points in victory against Jacksonville State… after scoring single digits in road win at Eastern Kentucky, came back with 14-point effort against Morehead State, including game-winning step-back lane jumper with three seconds remaining… fouls limited her to three points in home win against UT Martin before scoring 21 points in home loss against Murray State… after being limited to single digits against Tennessee State, reeled off back-to-back 20-point efforts in losses at Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech… scored 24 points against JSU, making 9-of-19 from floor, including game-tying three-point bucket – she was 3-of-7 from three-point range – with five seconds left, sending contest to overtime… at Tennessee Tech, she connected on career-best five three pointers (eight attempts), scored 20 points and collected eight rebounds… after scoring 10 points against Eastern Illinois, was held without a field goal against Southeast Missouri… however, delivered game-tying assist to teammate April Thomas, whose last-second bucket sent the game into overtime… in OVC tournament, was Lady Govs leading scorer, averaging 18 ppg… scored 17 points in tourney opener at Morehead State, going perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line while also knocking down a trio of three pointers… backed that up with 16 points in offensive battle with Murray State in semifinals… in tourney title game, scored 21 points in double-overtime victory, going 9-of-16 from floor… also was credited with three steals… averaged 13.9 ppg during OVC play, including shooting 41.3 percent (31 of 75) from three-point range… attempted the second most free throws (115) by a sophomore in APSU history… had three rebounds, two assists and two steals in NCAA Tournament game against Duke.
2007-08 (Freshman)
Herring was named to OVC All-Newcomer team... played and started all 28 games... averaged 10.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game... finished season ranked 10th among APSU freshman scorers all-time with 302 points... also tied for 10th among APSU freshman rebounders all-time with 160 rebounds... named OVC Freshman of the Week three times: Nov. 12, Nov. 26 and Dec. 17... scored 15 points in season-opener against Chattanooga, Nov. 9... averaged 16 points and nine rebounds per game at Southern Miss’ Lady Eagle Classic, Nov. 23-24, and was named to all-tournament team... scored season-high 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for first career double-double against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in opening round, Nov. 23... recorded second double-double – 16 points and 11 rebounds – against Southern Illinois, Nov. 28... reached double-digit scoring territory in six of seven December contests... opened January with 17 points at Tennessee Tech, Jan. 3, and season-best 12 rebounds against Jacksonville State, Jan. 5... scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds against Tennessee-Martin, Jan. 17... had five consecutive double-digit scoring outings, Feb. 11-28... had four blocked shots against Eastern Kentucky, Dec. 8... nabbed season-best five steals at Kennesaw State, Dec. 1... dished out season-high four assists against Samford, Feb. 9.
PREP CAREER
At Bartlett High School, under head coach Lynn Whitfield, was a three-time Associated Press honorable mention all-state selection... averaged 12 points, seven rebounds, four steals and four assists per game during her career... was named to the Region 7-AAA all-tournament team each of her first three seasons and was a District 14-AAA all-tournament selection as a junior... highly-touted prospect, being named among the top 12 Tennessee senior prospects by Rick Bolus’ regional scouting service and among the top 200 players nationally by Blue Star rankings... selected Austin Peay over both Chattanooga and Louisiana Tech.
