As a senior redshirt in 2009 – Vicini missed the 2009 campaign due to injury.
As a junior in 2008 – Vicini made 22 appearances, including 10 starts… finished season with 2-4 record and 4.95 ERA… in OVC play finished with 2-1 record and 4.40 ERA… was penciled in as team’s No. 2 starter during fall and preseason, but lost two of first three starts and moved into long relief role… in those first three starts the Govs provided little run support as he was the losing pitcher in an 11-5 decision to Valparaiso and a 9-1 decision to Indiana then had a no decision in a 12-4 loss to Dayton… surrendered just 14 (10 earned) of the 32 runs allowed in those games… made 10 relief appearances in between starts… went four consecutive relief appearances (6.0 IP) without surrendering a run… came on in emergency relief for Ryne Harper – who threw just five pitches – against Morehead State, April 5, and went six innings, allowing one run and striking out six, but did not factor in the decision as the bullpen surrendered the lead late… returned as No. 2 starter at Samford, April 12, and recorded team’s first complete game in loss… moved to No. 3 spot for start against Tennessee Tech and pitched admirably, surrendering just three runs over 6.1 innings to pick up season’s first victory… at Southeast Missouri, April 26, did not make it out of the fourth inning after surrendering six runs (four earned) on six hits in game Govs eventually won… made season’s best start in no decision effort against Tennessee Martin, May 4, allowing two runs while striking out seven batters over nine innings, but Govs lost game in 10th inning… posted second straight complete-game effort at Eastern Illinois, scattering 11 hits over seven innings… finished regular season with third straight quality start against Murray State allowing two runs over 6.1 innings… started Govs OVC Tournament contest against Tennessee Tech and surrendered five runs over 5.1 innings in loss.
As a sophomore in 2007– Led all Govs pitchers with 25 appearances… posted 2-1 record with two saves and a 3.64 ERA… allowed only 5-of-19 (26 percent) inherited runners to score made his season’s only start against Cincinnati, Feb. 19, pitching three innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, walking two and striking out four… was then relegated to a reliever role and allowed only two runs while striking out five in his next four appearances… made his season’s longest relief appearance at Indiana State, March 14, pitched 5.2 innings, allowed two runs on five hits while walking two and striking out a season-best six batters… picked up his season first win in relief against Belmont, March 21, pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two batters… came on with the bases loaded and two outs in game two at Jacksonville State, March 24, and got a ground-ball to end the inning… his second win came in game two against Southeast Missouri, April 22, pitched 3.1 no-hit innings and struck out two… pitched 4.2 innings against No. 13 Mississippi State, May 8, allowing one run on three hits and striking out three… picked up his season’s second save, recording the final two outs against Jacksonville State, May 25, at the OVC Tournament… made two appearances during NCAA Nashville Regional… got two outs against Vanderbilt in tournament opener, but was charged with the loss after departing the mound two men on base… returned to the hill against Vanderbilt in elimination game and went 3.1 innings allowing four runs on six hits… during 2007 summer was named to 2007 All-Alaska Baseball League Team, playing for Anchorage Glacier Pilots… then went to Havasu (Ariz.) Heat where he pitched in National Baseball Congress World Series, which the Heat eventually won.
As a freshman in 2006 – Had 11 appearances in his freshman campaign, earning two wins… had season-best performance in his first ever collegiate start against Youngstown State, March 11, allowing just one hit over six scoreless innings, walking four batters and striking out five… picked up his season’s second victory limiting Memphis to one hit over 1.1 innings as the Govs exploded to beat Memphis, 14-6, on March 26.
Career Recap: Lexington Catholic HS
Under head coach Rodney Martin, went 11-2 with 1.78 ERA at Lexington Catholic in 2005… voted the Knights’ best pitcher and named to 42nd District all-tournament team as team finished second in the district tournament and advanced to the Region 11 semifinals… a two-sport athlete, he was a top wide-receiver on the football team, finishing with 35 receptions and 581 yards as the team went 10-2, winning the District 6-AAA division.

David Allen Vicini Jr. is the son of David and Cheryl Vicini… born Dec. 5, 1986… has three younger siblings: Nick (20), Jake (15) and McKenna (nine)… earned bachelor’s degree in business management, May 2009… currently obtaining master’s degree in business management with May 2010 target date.
