Career Recap: Austin Peay
As a junior in 2016

  • Finished season leading Govs with .356 batting average and tied for team lead with 12 home runs despite missing 14 games. Also led Govs with nine game-winning RBI during the season.
  • Played in 43 games, including 40 starts, and saw action at both third base and left field as well as designated hitter. Began season at customary third base position but moved to left field during April 17 game at Belmont. Platooned with Ridge Smith at third base and left field remainder of season.
  • Batted .320 through season’s first 11 games before he was sidelined following the March 12 Eastern Illinois contest. Ultimately missed 14 games due to an upper body concern before returning as the designated hitter at Memphis, April 12.
  • Upon his return, posted a hit in 14 of the next 17 games, including seven multi-hit and six multi-RBI affairs. Batted .420 during that stretch with six home runs and a team-best 22 RBI, boosting season average to .377.
  • Had two four-hit games (equaling his career high) during that 17-game stretch: a 4-for-5, four RBI outing against Eastern Kentucky, April 22, and a 4-for-5 performance against Middle Tennessee, May 10.
  • Enjoyed the Eastern Kentucky series, tacking on a 3-for-5, five-RBI effort in the finale. Finished series 8-for-13 (.615) with three home runs and 11 RBI, including the game-winning RBI in all three contests.
  • Was named National Player of the Week by both NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball Magazine after EKU series. Also earned Adidas®/OVC Player of the Week honor and TSWA State Player of the Week award.
  • Became only sixth Govs hitter to record 30 career home runs, hitting his 30th at Morehead State, April 29. Finished season with 32 career home runs – fifth-most in program history.
  • Opened OVC tournament with 3-for-3 performance against Belmont. Finished tournament 5-for-14 with four walks and four RBI.

As a sophomore in 2015

  • Led Govs in batting average (.366), home runs (14) and RBI (39) despite playing only 38 games. Saw season cut short after suffering an injury April 24 in Morehead State series opener.
  • Named one of 35 semifinalists for Dick Howser Award selected by National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
  • Was a second-team All-OVC pick after leading Austin Peay with a .353 batting average, 10 home runs and 22 RBI during his 21-game OVC stint.
  • His 14 home runs – all hit in his final 22 games played – were 33rd most in Division I and were ninth-most in program history.
  • Was third on team with 19 multi-hit games and had eight multi-RBI outings, including outings with five-RBI and seven-RBI.
  • In his final 12 games prior to season-ending injury, batted .442 (23-for-52) with nine home runs and 23 RBI.
  • Hit a home run in three consecutive innings in Southeast Missouri series finale, April 5, finishing day 3-for-5 with seven RBI and two walks. Hit a two-run home run in the seventh to break up a shutout bid, added a three-run blast in the eighth and tied the game with a two-run shot in the ninth.
  • Had a streak of three consecutive games with a home run, March 25-28, as part of a 7-for-12 (.583) stretch at the plate that included five RBI and two walks.

As a freshman in 2014

  • Appeared in 54 games with 47 starts and was shortstop for majority of the year with starts at third and second
  • Finished with a .249 (43-173) batting average, a team-leading 15 doubles, six home runs and 36 RBI
  • His six home runs were eighth-most by a freshman in Division I
  • Batted .248 in OVC play, but 12 of 25 hits went for extra base (8 doubles, 4 home runs) and finished with a .446 slugging percentage
  • Had 12 multihit games, including five three-hit games
  • Hit sixth-inning grand slam that provided game-winning RBI as part of 1-for-5, five-RBI effort against Milwaukee, March 9
  • One week later his seventh-inning, pinch-hit two-run home run supplied game-winning RBI against Eastern Illinois, March 15
  • Went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, four RBI, a double and a home run against Tennessee Tech (April 6)
  • Had 3-for-4, four RBI outing against Eastern Kentucky, April 25, with a double and a two-run home run that drove in game-winning RBI.

Career Recap: Rockhurst HS

  • Batted .507 with eight doubles four triples, three home runs and 32 RBI during senior campaign, finishing campaign with a .563 on-base percentage after posting 10 walks.
  • A 2013 Rawlings Central Region honorable mention selection by Perfect Game and ranked as No. 1 shortstop in state of Kansas by Perfect Game.
  • Named to Midwest All-Regional Team by National High School Baseball Coaches Association and a First-Team Class 5 All-State selection by Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association and named to 2013 High School All-Region 5 team by American Baseball Coaches Association.
  • Selected a First-Team All-Metro pick by Kansas City Star.
  • As a junior, batted .395 with 22 RBI and finished with a .532 on-base percentage after compiling 23 walks.
