Career Recap: Austin Peay
2015-16 (5th Year Senior Season)

  • Returns to Austin Peay women’s basketball team in final year of collegiate eligibility. Played two previous seasons on Lady Govs soccer team after beginning career with basketball team.
  • Played 18 matches, 17 as a starter, for soccer team, leading team with five assists and was fourth on team in goals (five) and points (15).
  • Had team-best three game-winning goals – Oct. 25 against SIUE, Oct. 23 against Eastern Illinois and Sept. 18 against Kennesaw State.

2014-15 (Senior Season)

  • Missed season’s first 11 matches due to injury but returned to play four contests, all starts.
  • Put three shots on net against Jacksonville State, Oct. 17, but was held without a goal.

2013-14 (Junior Season)

  • Joined Austin Peay soccer team as a defender/midfielder and played 17 matches, starting 12, and was team’s third-leading scorer with six goals.
  • Scored a goal in both OVC Soccer Tournament games. Notched game-winning goal in semifinal contest against Southeast Missouri. Scored  go-ahead goal in 4-2 OVC championship game loss against Morehead State, Nov. 8.
  • Also scored two goals in OVC regular-season play, in back-to-back contests against Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky.
  • Began APSU soccer career auspiciously with goal and assist in first game, August 23 against Chattanooga.

2012-13 (Sophomore Season)

  • Played in 28 games, starting 11 contests, averaged 2.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game.
  • Grabbed career-high nine rebounds at Murray State, Feb. 2, and followed that with a team-leading eight-rebound outing against Southeast Missouri, Feb. 4.
  • Returned to APSU starting lineup against Eastern Illinois, Jan. 19, and started next 11 contests.
  • Scored season-best 11 points off bench against William & Mary, Nov. 24, at UTSA Thanksgiving Tournament.

2011-12 (Freshman Season)

  • Played in 30 games, starting 19, was one of Lady Govs leaders in assists (2.4 apg) and steals (1.5 spg) while averaging 5.2 points per game.
  • Scored career-high 17 points against Southeast Missouri, Feb. 25, adding four assists while making 7-of-10 from free-throw line.
  • Was particularly fond of playing Murray State, ending season with 15-point, six-rebound outing, March 1, in OVC Tournament contest. She averaged 11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in three games against the Racers.
  • Started season’s final 16 games and was second on team in assists during that span, averaging 3.1 assists per game, including  career-high six assists against UT Martin, Feb. 1.
  • Went 12-of-12 from free-throw line at Eastern Kentucky, Jan. 12, tying program record for most free throws made in a game without a miss.
  • Nabbed career-high six steals off the bench at Tennessee State, Dec. 29, adding three rebounds and three assists.
  • Had two five-steal outings in nonconference play – Nov. 22 at Louisville and Dec. 3 in start at UAB.
  • Began APSU career with 10 points and three steals at Lipscomb, Nov. 14.

Career Recap: Pickerington North HS

  • Prepped under head coach Dave Butcher.
  • Helped lead Pickerington North to the semifinal round of the 2011 Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Division I State Tournament where they lost to the eventual state champion.
  • Scored 10 points and handed out three assists in that semifinal contest.
  • Named second-team All-State as a junior and senior, was a second-team Ohio Capitol Conference selection as a senior.
  • Also played soccer and was a four-time first-team all-conference selection.

Personal

  • Currently enrolled in graduate program, pursuing master’s degree in curriculum and instruction.
  • Graduated in May 2015 with bachelor’s degree in special education and minor in professional education.
  • Born Sept. 24, Shelby Rose Olszewski is the daughter of Michele and Jeff Olszewski.
  • Her sister Nicole was a guard for the Lady Govs (2010-14), her sister Amanda played soccer at Memphis (2008-11), her brother Zach plays football at Ashland (Ohio) and Mason plays football at Charleston (W.Va.).
