Career Recap: Austin Peay
As a senior in 2016

  • Finished career ranked third in appearances (87), seventh in strikeouts (196), 14th in innings pitched (231.2) and 24th in victories (14).
  • Led all OVC pitchers with 32 appearances and 24 games finished during the season. Finished campaign with 6-1 record and team-best 3.57 ERA, recording 63 strikeouts in 63 innings pitched.
  • Season got off to a rocky start and was carrying a 6.00 ERA after March 20 Jacksonville State contest – his seventh appearance of the season in the Govs 18th game.
  • Made 25 appearances in Govs final 39 games, compiling a 6-1 record, five saves and 2.81 ERA while striking out 53 of the 198 batters he faced during that closing stretch.
  • Received second-team All-OVC honors after posting a 4-0 record, six saves, 3.03 ERA and recording 34 strikeouts in 17 conference appearances totaling 38.2 innings.
  • Had five-outing stretch (April 12-24) where he did not allow a run over 10.2 innings. Posted a 2-0 record and three saves in those five appearances, striking out 10.
  • Final career appearance saw him pick up win after season-long 6.2-inning outing against Belmont, May 28, in Govs’ third game of OVC Championship. Entered game with one out in the seventh and went the rest of the way in marathon 13-inning contest. Worked out of bases-loaded jam in 11th thanks to highlight-reel diving catch by Josh Wilson. After Govs secured lead in top of the 13th, returned to mound and struck out the side – finishing outing with career-high 11 strikeouts.
  • Named to OVC All-Tournament squad after three appearances in championship, allowing one earned run in 8.1 innings pitched, striking out 15.

As a junior in 2015

  • Made 16 appearances, including 14 starts, compiling a 5-5 record and 4.63 ERA in 81.2 innings pitched. Struck out 63 batters while limiting opponents to a .240 batting average.
  • Began season as Govs No. 2 and ultimately pitched in all three weekend sports and as a midweek starter.
  • Lasted a career-best eight innings against SIUE, May 9, allowing four earned runs on five hits.
  • Struck out career-high 10 batters in six innings against Eastern Illinois, March 9, picking up win.
  • Opened season allowing one unearned run in win against South Dakota State, Feb. 14, striking out four and walking none.

As a sophomore in 2014

  • Pitched 54.1 innings in 20 appearances for the Govs, finished season with a 4.31 ERA and a 3-3 record, striking out 43 and limiting opponents to a .277 batting average.
  • Had complete game outing, giving up one run with three strikeouts in 1-0 loss at SIUE, May 16.
  • Tossed seven shutout innings with a season-high six strikeouts in season’s final win against UT Martin, May 11.
  • Threw six innings giving up one earned run and striking out three in win at Belmont, April 18.
  • Picked up season’s first victory with three scoreless innings of relief at Evansville, March 25.
  • Moved to starter for the final six OVC series and had 11 appearances with six starts in OVC play, finishing conference play with a 2-1 record in 41 innings pitched.
  • Started the season in the closer role and earned three saves.
  • Made one plate appearance against Bradley, March 1, and struck out.

As a freshman in 2013

  • Appeared in 19 contests and made six midweek starts during campaign, recording a 6.89 ERA in first season with 27 strikeouts in 32.2 innings pitched
  • Struck out season-best five batters at Western Kentucky, April 3, allowed only one run but left with game tied 1-1 and Govs won 3-1
  • Season’s longest outing was 6.1-inning effort at Lipscomb, March 13, where he left tying run on base only to see two wild pitches allow run to score, keeping him from decision despite allowing only one unearned run.

Career Recap: Cascade HS

  • Was a TBCA first-team All-State selection and Tennessean All-Midstate third-team honreee as a senior after posting 139 strikeouts and picking up nine victories while allowing less than an earned run per game (0.30 ERA).
  • Led Cascade to third-place state finish, pitching and picking up a victory against North Greene with a 12-strikeout, three-hit performance over five innings.
  • Named Region Most Valuable Player in baseball as a junior with 5-2 record and two saves, recording 102 strikeouts, leading Cascade to the Class 1A regional final.
  • District 9 Pitcher of the Year as a sophomore after posting a 7-1 record and 0.47 ERA in 59.1 innings pitched.
  • Also an All-State and region MVP as quarterback for Cascade’s football team
  • Prepped under head coach Brandon Bassham.
