Career Recap: Austin Peay
As a senior in 2017:

  • Became fourth Austin Peay athlete – and first since 2009 – to be named the league's Player of the Year.
  • Started all 36 matches (played in 131 of 132 sets) and finished the season with 475 kills and 104 blocks.
  • Notched a team-leading five blocks against UCLA in NCAA Tournament, Dec. 1, to push her past 100 blocks for the season.
  • Only the second APSU player to record more than 100 blocks in a season twice during their career and finished career with program record 349 blocks.
  • For a second consecutive season, was the only OVC hitter ranked among the top seven in both hitting percentage (5th, .327) and kills per set (3rd, 3.75) in league play.
  • Ranked 41st among all Division I hitters in total kills and 69th in points per set (4.31, combining kills, blocks and service aces).
  • Named OVC Offensive Player of the Week four times in 2017, twice in the regular season's final three weeks.
  • Had impressive five-match streak of 20-plus points, August 25-Sept. 1, including three 20-kill performances. Punctuated that stretch with a 30-point, 27-kill, five-block effort at UAB, Sept. 1.
  • Did not hit below .300 in a nine-match stretch, Oct. 20-Nov. 16, which included her fourth 20-kill outing in win at SIUE.
  • Posted 17 points with 14 kills, four blocks and an ace against Eastern Kentucky in OVC tournament semifinal match, Nov. 17.

As a junior in 2016:

  • Named First-Team All-OVC after leading Austin Peay in kills (397) and blocks (109, 0.91 per set) while playing 34 matches (120 sets) during the season.
  • Was only hitter ranked among the OVC’s top five in both attack percentage (.297) and kills per set (3.31) at season’s end. In league matches only, she was ranked second in attack percentage (.315) and fifth in kills per set (3.65)
  • Became first Austin Peay player to be named Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week, earning the honor Oct. 11 after posting 37 kills (4.62 kills per set), a .361 attack percentage, two sevice aces and seven blocks in wins against SIUE and Eastern Illinois.
  • Also named adidas® OVC Offensive Player of the Week twice, earning the award both Oct. 10 and Oct. 31.
  • Her Oct. 31 OVC weekly honor came after she posted 45 kills (4.50 per set) and a .434 attack percentage in Govs three victories – against Alabama A&M, at UT Martin and at Southeast Missouri.
  • Twice recorded 22 kills as part of a double-double – both in road matches – finishing with 22 kills and 11 digs at SIUE, Oct. 8, and 22 kills at Southeast Missouri, Oct. 29.
  • Notched rare kill-block double-double against Kent State, Sept. 10, finishing with 11 kills and 11 blocks (four solo). Also had three kill-dig double-doubles.
  • After inconsistent first half, she broke out with eight consecutive double-digit kill outings to begin season’s second half. Ultimately finished with 235 kills (3.73 per set) in season’s final 17 matches (63 sets) while also posting a .312 attack percentage. She also had 50 (0.79 per set) of her 109 blocks during that stretch.

As a sophomore in 2015:

  • Saw action in 30 matches (97 sets), starting 25 contests
  • Was second on team with 238 kills, posting a team-best 2.45 kills per set. Also led team with 72 blocks (0.74 per set)
  • Started season’s first 23 matches, recording 10 double-digit kill performances in that stint.
  • Posted career-high 19 kills against Southern Miss, Sept. 19, with a .293 attack percentage and a career-high tying eight blocks.
  • Had three straight double-digit kill performances at home: vs. SIUE (15, Oct. 9); vs. Eastern Illinois (10, Oct. 10) and vs. Tennessee State (14, Oct. 16). Finished stretch with 39 kills (2.79 per set), a .303 attack percentage and seven blocks.
  • Had 18-kill, eight-block performance against Evansville, Sept. 1, in Govs home opener.
  • Named adidas® OVC Offensive Player of the Week, Sept. 7, after impressive four-match stretch beginning with that Evansville contest. Finished week with 48 kills (3.69 per set), 12 blocks (0.92 per set) and a team-best .430 attack percentage.

As a freshman in 2014:

  • Took part in 28 matches (92 sets)
  • Finished the season with 169 kills (1.95 per set)
  • Totaled 64 blocks in the 2014 season (.70 per set)
  • Recorded a season-high 13 kills against Jacksonville State, Nov. 1
  • Contributed against Belmont with 10 kills and 2 assists, Oct. 18

Career Recap: Ensworth School
Was member of Ensworth School that qualified for Tennessee’s Division II Class AA state tournament and a 19-13 overall record in 2013… a two-year varsity starter, she recorded 454 kills as a senior, despite missing four weeks of the regular season… as a junior, posted 608 kills and 301 digs during a full campaign… prepped under Ann Mullins, mother of Lady Govs alumnae Marie Mullins.

Personal
The daughter of Lolita Slay… born Dec. 5… has six siblings: brothers Ron, Patrick, Chris and Miles as well as sisters Taylor and Christina… Her mother played collegiate volleyball and basketball… Brother Ron played basketball at Tennessee… Brother Patrick played football at Kent State… Majoring in education.
