Career Recap: Austin Peay
As a senior in 2016

  • Batted .308 and posted a .456 on-base percentage during senior campaign that saw him appear in 47 games and start 26 contests.
  • Began season as part of outfield platoon as Govs rotated five players through the three outfield spots. Made 15 starts in season’s first six weeks, batting .283.
  • Went 2-for-2 with three RBI off bench at Mercer, March 4. Next week went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two stolen bases in Eastern Illinois series opener, March 11.
  • Appeared sporadically off the bench over the next six weeks, appearing in 16 games. Started twice in that middle stretch of the season, going 1-for-3 in each of the final two games of the Belmont series.
  • Returned to starting lineup May 13 in SIUE series opener and started nine of season’s final 10 games, including all four games the OVC tournament. Reached base in nine consecutive games, each of his starts, posting a .537 on-base percentage with eight walks, three times hit by pitch and a .367 batting average.
  • Was part of Senior Day senior breakout, going 2-for-3 with a double and three walks in regular-season finale against Oklahoma, May 21.
  • Had five multi-hit outings during the season’s final three weeks, including a 3-for-5 performance against Belmont, May 25, in OVC tourney opener.
  • Finished career with impressive outing at OVC Baseball Championship, batting .375 with a .500 on-base percentage. Also had one of top defensive plays in tournament, making a diving grab in left field with bases loaded and two out to extend Belmont elimination game, May 28, a game Govs ultimately won.

As a junior transfer in 2015

  • Appeared in 46 games, starting 41 contests, finishing campaign with .303 batting average, two home runs, 26 RBI and 20 walks.
  • Began season platooning at first base with Dre Gleason, but moved to right field during Murray State series and remained there for bulk of season, ultimately starting 29 games in right field.
  • Put together streak of 20 consecutive games reaching base safely, March 15-April 17, with two six-game hit streaks included in that stretch. Posted a .514 on-base percentage and .364 batting average during the streak with 20 hits, 12 walks and was hit by a pitch six times.
  • Was effective as a bunter, succeeding on moving runners with all six bunt attempts, recording two hits and four sac hits.
  • Had two three-hit games, opening OVC play with 3-for-5 outing against Eastern Illinois, March 8, and ending the season with a 3-for-5, three stolen base effort at Evansville, May 14.
  • Hit first collegiate home run against Lipscomb, April 21, as part of 2-for-3, three RBI performance. Season’s other home run came in OVC action against SIUE, May 9.

  • Batted .354 in 178 at-bats (56 games played) with 29 RBI and 13 stolen bases
  • Went 4-for-5 in Chargers third NJCAA Division I National Championship game against Cochise College

  • Hit .306 in 98 at-bats (42 games played) with 18 RBI, 11 stolen bases and 13 walks
