Career Recap: Austin Peay
As a senior in 2017

  • Played in 57 games, starting 56 contests, and finished season with .332 batting average while posting career highs in home runs (12) and RBI (56).
  • Posted a .300 batting average in OVC play with team-best 28 RBI while his 20 walks were second most on the team.
  • Became first Govs player named to USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Watch List, April 12, after posting .404 batting average, .500 on-base percentage and .752 slugging percentage in season’s first half.
  • Joined Governors 200-hit club, becoming the 19th member with his 1-for-3 outing at Southeast Missouri, April 1. Finished career with 232 hits, 11th-most in program history.
  • Led Govs with 16 multi-RBI outings and his 21 multi-hit contests were second on the team. Had a seven-RBI outing early in the season and then a pair of four-RBI performances.
  • Reached base safely in season’s first 28 games, tied for Govs longest streak of season with Cayce Bredlau; streak ended against Belmont, April 7.
  • Had four RBI as part of a 3-for-6 outing at Eastern Kentucky, April 14, that saw him hit a first-inning, three-run home run.
  • Was responsible for all four Austin Peay runs in March 15 contest at Tennessee, ending day 3-for-3 with a three-run home run in the first inning and a run-scoring single in the third inning.
  • Had three consecutive three-hit outings, March 12-18, going 9-for-13 with seven RBI, two doubles and a home run during the stretch that included contests against Jacksonville State, Tennessee and Murray State.
  • Named D1Baseball.com Player of the Day with impressive 4-for-5, seven RBI outing against Middle Tennessee, Feb. 28, that included a double and three-run home run.

As a junior in 2016

  • Played in 56 of Govs 57 games, starting 54 contests all at first base. Finished season batting .320 while leading APSU with 54 RBI and 43 walks. Also had a career-high nine home runs.
  • Hit two grand slams during the season, the first coming at Mercer, March 5. Second came at opposite end of the season, May 13 at SIUE.
  • Opened season with a hit in 25 of first 29 games and was batting .402 after April 9 contest against Southeast Missouri.
  • That opening stretch included a 14-game hit streak and an 11-game hit streak. Batted .500 during the 14-game streak with 21 RBI, five home runs and 11 walks. The following 11-game hit streak saw him batt .375 with 15 RBI and six doubles.
  • Enjoyed a four-game stretch, Feb. 21-27, that saw him post 13 RBI and 12 hits (.705 batting average). Had back-to-back four-hit games to start that streak: going 4-for-5 with four RBI and three doubles against Bradley, Feb. 21, and following that with a 4-for-5, five RBI outing against Southern Illinois, Feb. 23.
  • As hot start wound down, began to pick up walks, earning 10 in a six-game stretch, April 9-19. Was held hitless by Memphis, April 12, but walked three times and posted two RBI.
  • Recorded 24 of his 43 walks in regular-season’s second half. His 43 walks nearly equaling his career total entering the campaign (44).
  • Supplied game-winning RBI in Govs OVC tournament opener against Belmont, May 25, with his second-inning single. It was part of a 1-for-4, two-RBI outing which also saw him drive in a run when he beat out a potential double-play ball in the sixth.

As a sophomore in 2015

  • Played in 45 games, starting 40 contests, and was second on the team with a .349 batting average, while posting six home runs and 31 RBI.
  • Batted .352 in OVC play (2nd on team) with five home runs and 21 RBI. His .445 on-base percentage (12 walks, 5 HBPs) was second on the team.
  • Had a hit in 14 of season’s final 15 games (.444, 24-for-54). Ended season with streak of 15 consecutive games reaching base and a five-game hit streak
  • Ended season with five-game hit streak, May 8-14, batting .375 (6-for-16) with three RBI during streak.
  • Also had a career-best nine-game hit streak, April 15-28, that saw him bat .500 (18-for-36) with three home runs and 10 RBI. Started streak with a multi-hit effort in four straight games and had seven multi-hit games during streak.
  • Hit season’s first home run at Murray State (March 20), going 2-for-3 with two RBI against the Racers. It was his only home run until April 12, hit five of his six home runs in his final 17 games.
  • Battled for starting first base job early in season with Josh Wilson, ultimately taking over starting spot, March 11, and responding with 3-for-3 effort against UT Martin. Returned to platoon role at first base with Alex Robles late in season, starting as team’s designated hitter when not in the field.
  • After batting .200 during season’s first five games and falling out of starting lineup, started to break out with 2-for-2 effort against Western Michigan, Feb. 28, which included a double and three RBI.

As a freshman in 2014

  • Appeared in 52 games with 49 starts at first base for the Govs, finished season batting .261 with 29 RBI, nine doubles and four home runs.
  • Played in all 30 OVC games batting .276 with 21 RBI and a .440 slugging percentage (4 home runs).
  • Had 14 multihit games, including three straight, March 15-21, with four RBI.
  • Finished season with a hit in 10 of last 11 games, pushing average from .248 to season’s final mark.
  • Went 3-for-6 with two runs scored, three RBI, a home run against Southeast Missouri, April 11.
  • His third game-winning RBI came as part of 2-for-3, three RBI outing against Memphis, April 9.
  • Had two of his three game-winning RBI during that three-game stretch, with RBI groundout against Eastern Illinois, March 15, and leadoff home run in second inning at Jacksonville State, March 21.

Career Recap: Fort Zumwalt West HS

  • As a senior, was a first-team All-Gateway Athletic Conference Central Division selection after batting .338 with three home runs and 18 RBI in 23 games.
  • Named to PNC Bank High School Baseball Showcase Team.
  • Missed junior season due to injury.
  • Batted .423 with six home runs and a team-best 35 RBI as a sophomore.
  • Was selected to Power Showcase Home Run Derby in three consecutive seasons.
  • Prepped under head coach Steve Siebert.
