Career Recap: Austin Peay
As a senior in 2017

  • Hit 17 home runs in final season the third-most by a player in program history. Also ended his career tied for APSU’s career home runs mark, finishing with 37 home runs and equaling Lance Wampler’s (1997-2000) career total.
  • One of only five Govs hitters to record multiple 10-home run seasons during their careers.
  • Saw action in 56 contests, starting 55, and batted .284 with 46 RBI while setting career high with 25 walks.
  • Led Govs with seven home runs in OVC play, ending conference slate with .281 batting average and 23 RBI.
  • Had impressive OVC tournament stay, with six of his seven hits (.467 batting average) going for extra bases. Led Govs with four home runs and seven RBI in four tourney contests and was named to all-tournament team.
  • Notched fourth career multi-home run outing with two home runs as part of 4-for-5, three RBI performance against Jacksonville State, May 25, in OVC tourney elimination game.
  • OVC Tournament performance was part of impressive May that saw him lead Govs in batting average (.369, 24-for-65), home runs (six) and RBI as season average jumped 48 points during the month.
  • Hit game-securing three-run home run in 2-for-4, four RBI effort at UT Martin, April 29.
  • Had three RBI without recording a base hit against Southeast Missouri, April 2, driving in runs with a sacrifice fly, ground out and fielder’s choice.
  • Supplied game-winning RBI in Govs walkoff win against Arkansas State, March 22, one of his two game-winning hits.
  • Had two outfield assists during season, including catching a man trying to score in March 25 Tennessee Tech contest. Also caught a man out at third at UT Martin, April 28.

As a junior in 2016

  • Took over starting right field spot during a season that saw him play 54 games and start 44 contests. Finished season batting .332 while tying for the team lead in home runs (12) and finishing second in RBI (47).
  • Batted .369 during the conference slate and led the team with nine home runs and 28 RBI in 29 games played. Also posted a team-best .454 on-base percentage with 15 walks.
  • Most impressively, recorded only 32 strikeouts in 214 plate appearances after entering season with 61 strikeouts in 225 career plate appearances. His 32 strikeouts were third fewest among regular players.
  • Began season by coming off the bench for first nine games of campaign but batted .364 in his limited action.
  • Moved into starting defensive role after Cayce Bredlau’s injury, making first start at Mercer, March 6.
  • Offense got going with an eight-game hit streak, March 16-29, that saw him bat .444 (12-for-27) with eight RBI and helped him secure starting outfield job for season’s remainder.
  • Was walked each of his first four trips to the plate in Jacksonville State finale, March 22, and ended day with two-run home run in his fifth plate appearance. Officially, was 1-for-1 with two RBI and four runs scored.
  • Hit stride over season’s final 25 games with a hit in 19 of those contests (13 multi-hit affairs). Batted .346 (37-for-107) down the stretch with 10 doubles and 10 home runs for a .757 slugging percentage. Also posted 33 (10 multi-RBI games) of his 47 RBI over the final 25 games.
  • Posted second multi-home run outing of career, May 6 against UT Martin, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two home runs.
  • Enjoyed SIUE weekend, May 13-15, batting .471 (8-for-17) with seven RBI and hit a home run in each game of the series.
  • Batted .300 during OVC Baseball Championship, with a double, triple and five RBI in four games played.

As a sophomore in 2015

  • Appeared in 41 games, including 21 outfield starts, finishing campaign with .227 batting average, seven home runs and 16 RBI.
  • Was particularly dangerous off the bench, batting .389 (7-for-18) with three home runs, nine RBI and six walks (.542 on-base percentage).
  • Pieced together a four-game hit streak, May 1-8, batting .385 (5-for-13) with four RBI and three home runs.
  • Had first career multi-home run outing with two solo shots at UT Martin, May 3, as part of 2-for-5 effort.

As a freshman in 2014

  • Appeared in 43 games for the Govs in 2014, getting 26 center field starts.
  • Had seven stolen bases on the season while batting .167 but with 17 walks finished with .306 on-base percentage.
  • Reached base four times (1-for-4, 3 BB) at Morehead State, May 2, and stole three bases.
  • Went 3-for-6 with three RBI and a run scored against Southeast Missouri, April 11.
  • Hit first collegiate home run, a two-run shot, against Bradley, March 1.
  • Season’s first three-walk outing came in Game 2 of Eastern Michigan doubleheader, Feb. 25, he stole one base and scored twice.
  • First collegiate hit was RBI double in season-opener against Iowa, Feb. 15
  • Also made three appearances as relief pitcher, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings in three appearances and only surrendering two hits.

Career Recap: Arlington HS

  • Finished career at Arlington with .410 batting average and 17 home runs.
  • Named to a 2013 Rawlings Southeast Region honorable mention selection by Perfect Game, a Louisville Slugger High School Baseball Preseason All-America honorable mention selection by Collegiate Baseball.
  • Was a second-team All-State pick by the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association.
  • As a junior batted .339 with three home runs and 24 RBI and posted a 7-2 record and 1.26 ERA on the mound, helping Tigers win 2012 Class AAA State Championship.
  • In the state tournament batted .438 with seven runs scored, three RBI and two doubles from the leadoff position, including a 3-for-3, three RBI outing in Round 3 against Riverdale.
  • Also pitched a complete game for a Round 2 win against Farragut.
  • Named to 2012 TBCA 2-Way Team.
  • Prepped under head coach Chris Ring.

  • Has five siblings: Will, D.B., Hope, McKenzie and Chandler.
