2022

  • Made 20 appearances, including five starts, on the mound.
  • Weekend starter over the season’s first three weekends before moving into a bullpen role in late March.
  • Finished the season with a 3-6 record and a team-leading three saves, striking out 40 batters in 49.0 innings pitched.
  • His 10 relief appearances in OVC play were the most by any Govs pitcher.
  • Picked up a win in season’s second start, striking out five and allowing one earned run in 5.0-inning outing against Bowling Green (Feb. 27).
  • Struck out a season best six hitters over 4.1 innings of relief at Saint Louis (March 19) but did not factor into the decision.
  • Returned to the win column as a reliever at Belmont (March 26) holding the Bruins to two runs on five hits over 3.0 innings.
  • Season’s first save saw him toss 3.0 innings of one-run relief at UT Martin (April 8).
  • Took a month before recording season’s second save with three strikeouts over 2.0 scoreless innings of relief against Murray State (May 8).
  • Went 4.0 scoreless innings of relief, striking out four batters, for third save at Tennessee Tech (May 13).

2021

  • Began season as a reliever, making two relief appearances in the season’s first two weekends before moving into a starting role against Tennessee (March 3) and then moving into the weekend rotation against Tennessee Tech (March 14).
  • Went 4-2 in 15 appearances (13 starts) and posted a 6.04 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 70.0 innings pitched.
  • Ranked among OVC leaders in innings pitched (6th, 59.1), victories (8th, 4), starts (1st, 10), and fewest walks allowed (8th, 11) during league play.
  • Struck out a career-high nine batters in eight-inning start at Murray State (May 20) en route to his fourth victory.
  • Govs won five-straight games he started, March 26-April 23, and he was 3-0 in that stretch.
  • Notched Govs’ first complete-game victory since April 2019 with win at UT Martin (April 16), allowing one run on five hits and walking none.
  • Went 8.1 innings in start at Southeast Missouri (March 20), opening with 7.2 scoreless innings, before allowing a two-out solo home run.
  • Made first OVC start against TTU (March 20) and picked up first collegiate victory, setting a then-career best in strikeouts (7).
  • In first collegiate start, held #17 Tennessee scoreless through a career-best four innings (March 3)
  • Austin Peay was 8-5 in his starts, with the offense supplying 79 runs (6.1 per game) in his starts..

2020

  • Did not play for the Governors in 2020 due to injury.

2019

  • Made 14 appearances out of the bullpen in first season at Austin Peay.
  • Appeared twice in the OVC tournament. Struck out two in an inning of work in a win against UT Martin, May 22, then recorded four outs against Jacksonville State, May 24.
  • Did not allow a run in three consecutive outings, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings and allowing just three hits in appearances against Western Kentucky (May 14), Jacksonville State (May 16) and UT Martin (May 22) near season’s end.
  • Tossed two scoreless innings against Jacksonville State, May 16, allowing Govs to rally to force extra innings in series opener.
  • Held Tennessee to one run in two innings of work, May 7, striking out two of the nine batters he faced.
  • His 2.2 innings of work against Southern Illinois, April 16, was longest outing of the day by a Govs pitcher in a game the Govs won in walk-off fashion.

Prep Career

  • Pitched and played second base for head coach James Pope at Springfield High School.
  • A four-time All-Robertson County selection who was an All-District 10-AAA pick his final three seasons and a District 10-AAA all-tournament choice as a junior and senior.
  • As a junior, posted a 6-3 record and 2.60 ERA, striking out 78 batters over 59 innings.

Personal

  • Luke Joel Brown is the son of Amy and Robert Brown.
  • Birthday is Oct. 7.
  • Has an older brother, Ryan.
  • A psychology major.
  • Member of Goodlettsville Baseball Little League Team that represented Southeast Region and won the 2012 United States Little League World Series championship.
  • Posted two wins in the 2012 LLWS, including in the US championship game, and went 6-for-12 at the plate in that tournament.
