As a junior in 2020

  • Govs' Opening Day catcher, started 13 games behind the plate and played in 16 of the 17 games.
  • Finished season with a .298 batting average with two home runs and 10 RBI.
  • Caught four of 19 base stealers, including 2 in Game 2 of Jacksonville series, Feb. 29.
  • Walked twice, stole a base and was 1-for-3 with a RBI against Western Illinois, March 10.
  • Hit two-run home run, going 1-for-4, in March 10 outing at Lipscomb.
  • Had three run-producing hits against Evansville, Feb. 23, including a RBI double in the 7th.
  • Ended February batting .388 (7-for-18) with four RBI over month’s final five games.

As a sophomore in 2019

  • Played in 40 games and batted .314 with four home runs and 25 RBI.
  • Committed only three errors in 238 chances behind the plate.
  • Finished with a.471 on-base percentage, earning 29 walks in 140 plate appearances.
  • Named MACJC All-State Second Team.
  • Third Team NJCAA All-Academic Team and MACJC Academic All-State selection.
  • Delivered five RBI in 3-for-3 outing against Hinds, April 16, that included a pair of doubles.
  • Moved into everyday starting role, March 2, against LSU Eunice and went 2-for-3 with a solo home run.

As a freshman in 2018

  • Saw action in 31 games, batting .294 with three home runs and 27 RBI.
  • Posted a.400 on-bases percentage with 13 walks in 106 plate appearances.
  • Had five-RBI day against Itawamba, May 11, which included a grand slam as part of a 2-for-4 outing in Region 23 playoff series.
  • Had three games with three RBI, including May 5 contest against Northwest Mississippi that saw him for 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored.
  • Third Team NJCAA All-Academic Team and MACJC Academic All-State selection

  • Prepped at Lewisburg High School for head coach Neal Holliman.
  • Lewisburg won three consecutive district championships during his career.
  • Ranked by Perfect Game as the No 5 ranked catcher in the state and the No 23 overall prospect.

  • Alexander Mitchell Hay is the son of John Hay and Rebecca Hay-Newton and has three older siblings: Lauren, Nathan and Michael.
