The Winfield Dunn Center has been home to Governors athletics since it opened in 1975. Considered one of the top mid-major facilites in the south, it has evolved into one of the more intimidating basketball courts in the Ohio Valley Conference.

The 132,000 square-foot complex, officially named the Winfield Dunn Health and Physical Education Building and Convocation Complex in honor of Governor Dunn, was built for $5.3 million when construction started in February 1973. The dominating edifice on the northwest corner of the Austin Peay campus is over seven stories tall with 78 feet separating the top of the building from its Maplewood playing surface. The Dunn Center, which was nicknamed "The House that Fly Built" upon completion, replaced the Memorial Gymnasium, affectionately called "The Little Red Barn," which served as the Governors home court from 1952 until the Dec. 1, 1975 tip-off.

On Jan. 16, 1988, the basketball arena contained within the Dunn Center was named Dave Aaron Arena in honor of the school's former athletics director, football coach and then all-time winningest basketball coach. In Summer 2007, the playing surface was named "Dave Loos Court" in honor of the longtime Governors basketball coach who surpassed Aaron's win total during the previous season.

The Dunn Center is the home court for Governors basketball and volleyball programs. It also serves as an indoor practice facility for the athletic department's other sports when inclement weather prevents use of their respective outdoor facility. In addition, the University's graduations are held in the facility and it is host to area high school graduations each May.

On the ground floor, the Dunn Center hosts the athletic department's offices (located in the north end); locker rooms men's basketball offices and main athletic training room (east side); as well as the athletics hall of fame (south end/main entrance). The second floor hosts the university's health and physical education offices and classrooms (east side); the David P. Roe Athletic Academic Services Center (south end) and team offices for football, women's basketball and softball (west side). The third floor contains office space for track and field (east side) and soccer (west side) as well as large spaces for workouts or hosting small gatherings.

The Dave Aaron Arena space has undergone extensive renovations beginning in 2004. By the end of Summer 2013, the entire facility had been revamped with new seating, a new playing surface, new scoreboards and a a spectacular new video board. The David P. Roe Athletic Academic Services Center was constructed in 2006 under the seats located on the second floor of the south end. The Governors weight room also has been extensively remodeled.
