Austin Peay State University Athletics

Community Outreach

Austin Peay Student-Athlete Support Services office is responsible for monitoring the eligibility and academic progress for the university’s 300 student-athletes. Services provided are study hall, managing the textbook scholarship program, weekly academic meetings, tutoring, grade reporting, personal and career counseling and academic advising and counseling. The office is also responsible for assisting student-athletes with summer school and fifth-year funding requests.

Austin Peay student-athletes volunteer their time and effort to give back to the local Clarksville community throughout the year. Each year student-athletes strive to meet a minimum of 10 service hours by reading to elementary school children, doing various food drives for local ministries, working with Buddy Ball and a variety of other organizations. Our students and coaches are notified of opportunities via a weekly newsletter.

The process for requesting student-athlete(s) for community service:

  • Fill out this form: Student-Athlete Appearance Form at least one month prior to request date.
  • The form will be distributed internally for approval of the request.
  • You will be contacted by the community service coordinator with notice of approval/denial.
  • If your request is approved, you will work together with the community service coordinator to plan the event.
  • Please e-mail jacobih@apsu.edu or call 931-221-7609 with any questions/concerns regarding community outreach.
  • We will do our best to accommodate all requests; however student-athletes have very busy schedules, so we are unable to fulfill every single request.
  • As a reminder, there are NCAA guidelines to which we must adhere. These include limiting participation to events within 30 miles or 30 minutes of Austin Peay State University and restricting involvement with students to those in the eighth grade or younger.

Examples of activities that student-athletes can do:
