Baseball Staff Headshot 2025 | Jon Littell

Jon Littell

Head coach Roland Fanning elevated Littell into a full-time assistant coach role in July 2023 and served as the Governors' hitting coach for the 2024 season. After leading the Governors to one of the most successful offensive seasons in recent history, Littell remains in the same position for the upcoming 2025 season.

It is Littell's third season on the Governors' staff, after serving as a volunteer assistant coach and camp director during the 2022 season, and being promoted to a full-time position in 2023. Fanning brought the former Cowboys graduate manager to Clarksville in June 2022 as part of his inaugural staff.

LITTELL'S CAREER SUMMARY

AUSTIN PEAY (2022-current)

2024: In his first season as a full-time staff member, Littell helped lead the Governors’ bats to a historic season for the books. Austin Peay’s offense was ranked first nationally in batting average (.359), home runs per game (2.61), slugging percentage (.661), on-base percentage (.455), scoring (10.9 runs per game), and second in doubles per game (2.79). Of the 10 governors who landed on the All-ASUN roster, nine were offensive players which included: Lyle Miller-Green, Jon Jon Gazdar, Ambren Voitik, Brody Szako, Harrison Brown, John Bay, Clayton Gray, Gus Freeman, and Jaden Brown. The Governors finished the season as conference champions after winning the regular season for the 16th time in program history. A handful of bats from the ’24 season will return in 2025, along with many recruits with the potential to lead Austin Peay to another championship title.

OKLAHOMA STATE (2021-22)

In his two seasons on the Oklahoma State staff, Littell worked with Major League Baseball veteran Robin Ventura. He also assisted with film reviews, scouting reports, and team travel. His stint in Stillwater followed a COVID-shortened season as a volunteer assistant at Division II Central Oklahoma where the Bronchos posted a 17-3 record prior to the season's stoppage.

A Stillwater native, Littell played four seasons as an outfielder at Oklahoma State. He batted .257 with 13 home runs and 108 RBI over 193 games for the Cowboys. He was a Second Team All-Big 12 pick as a senior, finishing the season with a .266 batting average, seven home runs, and 42 RBI. Littell also was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection during his career.

OSU made four NCAA Tournament appearances during Littell's career, reaching the College World Series during the 2016 season. Littell was named to the Clemson All Region Team during that 2016 run after going 8-for-13 (.615) at the plate with a double and three RBI.

Following his OSU playing career, Littell was drafted in 37th round of the 2018 draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He played two seasons in the Dodgers organization and was selected to the Pioneer League All-Star Team in 2019, where he hit the go-ahead three-run home run in a Pioneer League victory against the Northwest League. Prior to joining Oklahoma State, he was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 39th round of the 2014 MLB Draft.
