Career Recap: Austin Peay

As a senior in 2019

  • Played in 54 games, starting at catcher in 45 contests.
  • Led Govs with .345 batting average while recording eight home runs and 44 RBI.
  • Along with Garrett Spain, led Govs with 22 multi-hit games, including five three-hit outings.
  • Named to Buster Posey Award Watch List, honoring the nation’s top Division I catcher.
  • Along with brother Sebastian, was part of the first Governors brother duo to each hit a home run in the same game, May 11, at Eastern Illinois. David hit a solo home run in the fifth inning while Sebastian hit a three-run homer in the eighth.
  • Beginning with the Belmont series opener, March 29, he batted third in the order during an 11-game stretch and posted a .356 average with three home runs and 13 RBI. Stretch ended with series opener at UT Martin, April 20, when he returned to the No. 5 spot.
  • Saw a career-best 13-game hitting streak, then the longest by any Govs hitter, end in the Morehead State series finale. Batted .440 (22-50) during the hit streak with 16 RBI.
  • Made first career start at first base against Lipscomb, April 2, and went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run.
  • Led Govs against both Eastern Kentucky and Belmont series. Batted .429 (6-14, 5 RBI) against the Colonels and .583 (7-12) against the Bruins.
  • Hit two home runs in the second inning of the Govs victory at Southeast Missouri, March 24, becoming the first Govs hitter with two home runs in an inning since 1995.
  • Batted .500 (15-for-30) in season’s first 10 games, including three-hit games against Northern Illinois, Feb. 24, and Lipscomb, March 5.

As a junior in 2018

  • Was Governors opening day starter at catcher and appeared in 36 games in his first season with Govs, including 27 games started.
  • After a slow start to the campaign, closed with a flourish, batting .375 (9-for-24) over his last 12 outings with two home runs and five RBI.
  • Kicked off that closing stretch with a 2-for-3, three RBI outing against Eastern Kentucky, April 13, with a double and a home run, the first game in a season-best four-game hit streak.
  • Would later add a 2-for-3 outing against Eastern Illinois, May 18, which included a double and a solo home run.
  • Season's first two hit outing came at Jacksonville State, March 10, a 2-for-4 performance that included two RBI.
  • Twice during the season had two RBI in a game which did not include a hit: Feb. 17 against South Dakota State and March 18 against Murray State.

As a sophomore transfer in 2017

  • Appeared in 26 games, making 15 starts at catcher, and posted a .213 batting average with three doubles and a .351 on-base percentage with 10 walks.
  • Was Govs regular starter behind the plate to start season’s second half and started seven of eight games, April 1-14. Had five hits, including two doubles, and six walks during that stretch, finishing with a .379 on-base percentage.
  • During that stretch went 2-for-4 with a run-scoring double at Southern Illinois, April 4
  • Made first start against Mercer, March 4, and went 2-for-4 with a RBI.
  • First hit as a Governor was a pinch-hit RBI double against Middle Tennessee, Feb. 28.

Career Recap: Broward College
As a freshman in 2016

  • Played 18 games for Seahawks and coach Ben Bizier. Had 50 plate appearances and posted a .306 on-base percentage in that limited action.
  • During Summer 2016, played for Terre Haute Rex of the Prospect League and batted .238 in 41 games with six doubles, two home runs and 23 RBI.
  • Had three three-hit games while with Terre Haute, including a 3-for-4, three-RBI performance, June 10.

Career Recap: Treasure Coast HS

  • Helped lead Treasure Coast under head coach Michael Sindone to first district title in program history as a senior in 2015.
  • Scored game’s only run in district championship, walking to start the inning and later stealing a pair of bases, including a two-out steal of home.
  • Named to Florida Athletic Coaches Association’s 2015 Class 8A All-Academic Team and was selected to South squad of Mike Picano Treasure Coast Senior All-Star Baseball Game.
  • Named to Scripps Treasure Coast Newspaper All-Area Honorable Mention Team as a sophomore.
