• He made his Governor debut at Arizona State (Feb. 17), starting the game as the DH while going hitless in the contest.

Prep Career

• Graduated from John Paul II High School (Plano, Texas), where he prepped under head coach Kyle Hay during his junior and senior years.
• No. 5 ranked outfielder and No. 18 ranked overall player in the state of Texas by Perfect Game.
• Ranked as the No. 33 outfielder in the nation by Perfect Game.
• Hit .402 as a high school junior in 2022 with 21 extra-base hits, including nine triples.
• Landed a spot in the summer of 2022 on the USA Baseball 17-U National Team Championship All-Tournament team.

• Derrick Armand Mitchell is the son of Donya and Dee Mitchell.
• Birthday is August 4.
• Has a sister: Isis.
• His father played football at Morgan State University.
• His mother also attended Morgan State University and played volleyball.
• His siter played volleyball at the University of North Carolina Central and Alabama A&M.
• His grandfather, Leon Brown, played baseball for the '76 New York Mets.
• His uncle, Mike Mitchell, played football for Stanford University.
• His other uncle, Channing Brown, played baseball for Lipscomb University.
• His cousin, Hunter Greene, is a current pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds.
